Patriots Rally For America - Live Report
Dave Dilegge - Live From DC | 20 April 2002 | Mustang

Posted on 04/20/2002 7:56:53 AM PDT by Mustang

Received two cell calls from Dave. The stage is set. The flags are waving. The weather is great. They're ready to Roll! Around 0945 the crowd was 50+ including Kristinn, sauropod, Leadpenny, Angelwood, Exit 148, GoreWarVet, Dutchy, Congressman Billy Bob, Black Agnes, TaxMan, TGSL DeComa, WhoKnowsWhatEvil, FireBrand, Country Dummy, Stan Waite, Pro2aMom, 0351Dog. (please pardon any mispelled "names" or omissions. The cell connections were poor).

Around 1015 the crowd was continuing to grow, with some spill over from the Peacenik/anarchist nitwits. Dave reports that it was the port-o-potties that attracted them. But our fearless Freepers labelled the doors "Patriots" and Patriot Women". It seems to be turning them away.

More to follow. Mustang sends from Florida.

As usual, a great job Dave, by you and your fellow freepers.

The Opecker Princes probably spent several million $'s to bring their diseased maggots to DC via Ramsey Clark.

Our freepers operate on personal funds and a few donations have a tremendous effect.

Whenever you see massive amounts of the maggots and their maggot infested renta mobs in DC or SF, just ask who sent the money to enable these idiots to march. In this case it is simple. It was the Opecker Princes who have been financing world terrorism, the PA's and 9/11.

Great Job again. The Free Republic Eagles continue to soar in DC for freedom and America!

The folks on our side showed great restraint when small cells of inciters broke through our lines and tried to start brawls with their signs and foul mouths.

I'm not sure I could have shown similar restraint.

Don't be fixated on the numbers -- the press always reports what they want. The Washington Times today reports about 30,000 anti-war combined protesters and several hundred Patriots while the Washington Post reports totally inflated numbers of 75,000. That's a huge disparity between different media entities. I think the Chief of Police reported closer to the 30,000 estimate for the anti-war, pro-Palestinian groups.

Whether the Patriots Rally for America had in attendance what some media called "a handful" or others called several hundred is irrelevant. The people who braved the elements and the warnings of violence from the anti-war groups are all to be commended. They came to the rally, listened to the inspiring and outstanding speakers, flew their flags proudly and defiantly in the face of the America-hating leftist/communist/anarchist protesters and rallied in support of the U.S. and our troops fighting the war on terrorism.

I am less fixated on the numbers than I am repeatedly shocked at the media's distortion of events. I know we will never get an accurate picture of what actually happened, it was just a glaring instance of the inconsistency on the part of the media, watching the numbers swing around they way they did.

Agreed, as stated in this comment to tgsl;

It was my impression one of goals of this event was to show support for the war on terror and our armed forces. Whether you had 10 or 10,000 people, it seems to me this was accomplished.

Thanks to everyone who showed up/contributed/bumped. Was unable to attend this one, as I spread myself too thin this weekend. Surely I'll make the next rally for America.

Why are these people in our country?

Damned good question. The fact that people are parading in front of the white house with the flags of terrorist organizations that have killed hundreds of Americans is just appalling. What the hell are we doing to ourselves?

For what its worth - someone at our rally yesterday made this point clear (He's looking at a mob of Jihadists a few yards away).

One last thing: They are super-trashy people! Filthy people...

You don't exagerate at all. I had to leave after Sgt Braman spoke and I headed across the street on my way to the Metro.

What a disgusting bunch of filth, human and garbage. They left dirty diapers, every imaginable sort of refuse including their posters, flyers and propaganda. There message was trash and they acted like trash. I can't believe for a minute, that they would clean up before they left. The world owes them a living, and free healthcare and a homeland and a Lexus.

I would not be at all surprised to find there were 100,000 misguided nitwits and miscreants in attendance on the other side of the street. Between the crowd across the street and the ones behind the Washington Monument, there were too many to feel hopeful about. So many people, so much ignorance. My favorites were the 20 year old commune looking girls, who wore buttons saying "We are all Palestinians". Thank God we're not.

The Rally was a phenomenal event, Dave, from the start of the music at 10 a.m. to closing with "God Bless America." I saw and heard very disturbing things from the leftists who infiltrated. Each speaker lent something uplifting, educational, and inspirational in his or her own unique style to the day. I thank each and every one of them for being there with us.

The heroic Green Beret speaking of God and humility with the building backdrop of the angry, noisy, pro-Palestinians and darkening skies still unsettles me. The Police in full riot gear were arriving on one side and more mounted Park Police were moving in on the other. Several other attendees have spoken of the danger sensed at that moment. Through it all, the Green Beret stayed calm, never swayed and kept speaking of how his faith in God was with him the day he rescued others in the fiery Pentagon attack. It was one of the most vivid illustrations of good vs. evil I've ever witnessed.

I am so very proud of all the members of the D.C. Chapter and fellow FReepers and Lurkers who joined us at the Patriots Rally for America. Congratulations on a successful rally.

Some FReepers traveled great distances to attend and then volunteered to help. Every volunteer was put to work at the increasingly difficult Porta-Pottie duty, crowd control, sign replacement, stage management, sign-in, button/bumper sticker sales or spot interviews throughout the day. All help was greatly appreciated.

I especially want to thank all of our speakers, John Armor, Maria Heil, Taxman, Dave Dilegge, Joseph Farah, Paul Rodriguez, Niger Innis, Kevin Martin, Staff Sgt. Christopher D. Braman, B-1 Bob Dornan, Jennifer Carroll, Rev. Jesse Lee Petersen, Jim Parmelee, Larry Klayman and Kristinn for their outstanding efforts. Clinton's a liar deserves special recognition for a job well done. She was the Master of Ceremonies, kept the crowd enthused and smoothly transitioned from one speaker to another.

Logistics of getting around D.C. yesterday were made more difficult by the many street closings due to the anti-war, anti-American groups in multiple areas of the city. Some of our speakers were unable to get through by car and had to walk the streets of D.C. and, in some cases, go through the masses of anti-war, pro-Palestinian protesters. We were able to rearrange our program schedule and all of our speakers were able to speak at the rally. Kudos to them all!

Let me tell you; it wasn't easy! I got shoved aside a couple of times at the 'port-a-potties', but I took an extra long HOT shower with anti-bacterial wash when I got back to Tennessee; just in case any lice had jumped ship. :-)

Thanks for being there - I also got to meet Coop. Between the two of you I have been kept very well informed about VA politics over the past year. I apologize to the both of you for not spending more time to talk and get to know you better in person. There were a lot of moving parts yesterday but everyone kept things in order and running like clockwork.

Altho some of the infiltrators came to heckle, there were some who did stand and listen for a short time. That was heartening.

Almost all of those "infiltrators" were part of the anti-globalization, anti-World Ban/IMF, and/or anarchists type - mainly white college age kids dressed like "hippies." Very few Muslims from the pro-Palestinian rally actually came over to where we were, though the Park Police prevented some of those marchers from getting too close to us anyway.

There was one guy in his twenties who stopped by. He hadn't taken a stand either way, altho he leaned to the right.(my words) He checked out the different goings-on, liked what he saw in our rally, and wanted to know about Free Republic. I gladly told him how to hookup with us. It's time like that, that really make the day!

I'm also happy to report that despite some very tense arguments that some of our TRT guys had with some of the aforementioned young people from the "other side," there were a few of them who do agree with our staunch support of the U.S. Constitution, our right to go after the terrorists and our fundamental loyalty and patriotism to America.

Sorry I didn't make it over to chat with you yesterday. I did see that you all were usually busy at the tables. As you probably noticed, most of our TRT guys stood towards the back of the crowd, as somewhat of a "rear guard", during the rally.

Besides that, it was a great day and I want to thank the DC chapter for putting it together.

I wholeheartedly agree. Kudos to "Rally4America.Org" for their role in this great event, too!

Ironically, it was the CBS News affiliate, WUSA-TV Ch.9, that gave the Patriot's Rally the longest, most fair and accurate coverage. kristinn did an outstanding job with the soundbite they used from him. The local ABC, NBC and Fox News stations basically ignored us for the most part. If anyone saw something different locally, please say so.
