"... this is a behavior, not an immutable trait..."

Agreed. There is no evidence of a "gay" gene. But that's not what pro-homo web sites are telling impressionable kids. For example:

A Link to Oasis Magazine from Youth.org:

I don't want to be lesbian or bisexual. Why should I go through this?:

"Hi Chris,

How can one decide whether or not they are bi or straight. It's not something I asked for. Where does the line between natural adolescent curiosity and, and bisexuality begin. It's not like anything I've ever had to figure out before. But, if I'm just bi, can't I just push it away, like any other emotional baggage. Why should I put myself through the hell of hurting my parents and getting disowned my half my family. Can't I just push it away like any other problem. A lot of people just push parts of themselves away, so is this any different?

Debra

"Hi Debra,

You have quite a road in front of you, Debra, and it's better to get started on it sooner, rather than later. The fact is, you don't get to decide whether you're gay, lesbian or bisexual. That was decided by the time you were born, and is an innate part of you, and here to stay. So, you can either fight it, and live an unhappy life where you are afraid all the time that people are going to find out about your "secret," where you deny yourself the happiness that comes from expressing your true self and finding someone as a friend or partner who is like you. Or you can find a path to accept, and then celebrate, this gift that you have been given, and live life openly.

If you are bisexual, the thing is it is not emotional baggage (and I hope you realize that it's not a good idea to just push away emotional baggage, either -- it's something that is usually best dealt with, confronted, and resolved). It is, rather, a biological and genetic part of your very being, of who you are. And just like being born with a particular skin color, that might make it harder to get by in some areas, or finding out that you're left handed and living in a right-handed world, you will do best to just get over it, and deal with it.

Why do you assume that you will be putting your parents through Hell? Why do you think they will disown you? It may be that they will have a hard time with it, some parents (but not most), do. But if they love you, they will find a way, they will work to get the education they need about what it means to be queer, and how to help you live a happy life. Because, for most parents, that's what they want most for their kids.

I recommend starting with the book "Free Your Mind" by Ellen Bass and Kate Kaufmann. Then "Outing Yourself" by Michelangelo Signorile. Those are both great "primers" on being gay, and Signorile's book takes an excellent, step-by-step approach to coming to terms with yourself -- which is the essential first step -- and then leads you to the point, which could take many months, where you can finally look in a mirror, say "I'm happy that I'm gay" and then take the next step out the door to tell your family and friends.

When you're ready for the next steps, you may want to find a gay youth group in your area, or go to your school GSA. Talking with other guys and girls like you, who have confronted similar issues, can often help you get through this more easily."

Take care,

Chris"

"THE GAY GENE: GOING, GOING … GONE" by Yvette C. Schneider

"CONCLUSION

Scientists have not even come close to proving a genetic or biological cause for homosexuality, yet homosexual activists continue to say that sexual activity between members of the same sex is "just the same" as race or gender. Using "biology" as a stamp of legitimacy, activists have pushed for special rights, from sex-partner subsidies to "gay marriage" to adoption. Without scientific evidence to support such claims, it is wrong and dangerously misleading to say that people are born homosexual and cannot change."

Yvette C. Schneider, a former lesbian who is now married, is a policy analyst in the cultural studies department at Family Research Council.

"A Change In Thinking"

"The bottom line is this: No child is born to be a homosexual. Homosexuals are made, and they can be unmade. This is the truth that more psychiatrists and psychologists need to acknowledge. This is the truth that the American people need to know, parents of young children need to heed and politicians need to understand."

Is Homosexuality Genetic?

Research Group Warns Schools of Homosexual Propaganda

"Schools should let their students know that the differences between the homosexual and heterosexual cultures are many and profound, contrary to assertions by homosexual advocacy groups who seek to portray homosexuality as something innate and essentially without risk, a leading psychological group said.

Indeed, a same-sex male couple rarely stays together if the partners are not open to permitting each other to have outside sexual contacts, the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) said in a recent mailing to 15,300 public school superintendents around the United States.

The mailing "seeks to correct the misinformation that is being promoted by these homosexual advocacy groups that have an incredible influence on the public education system," said Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, president of NARTH and a proponent of reparative therapy for homosexuals who want to change.

"What we're trying to say to school supervisors is, 'don't just rely on pro-gay information sources to make your decisions.' All our stuff is well grounded scientifically," he said. NARTH is a non-religious scientific organization whose 1,000 members include psychologists, psychiatrists and therapists..."

Doctor Gives Affidavit In Fistgate Case

Outlines the "significant medical and health risks" associated with what was taught to students at Fistgate.

"...As a practicing physician and member of the Physician Resource Council of the Massachusetts Family Institute, I object to information being presented to children and adolescents by educators intended to portray homosexuality as a healthy alternative lifestyle, while deliberately omitting or disregarding the significant medical and health risks inherent to homosexual sex and the gay lifestyle.

Under the rubric of diversity training, HIV prevention and "safer schools," the Massachusetts Department of Education has permitted the exposure of young students in public schools to sexually explicit, morally offensive, and medically risky material intended to encourage them to question, explore and expand their sexuality. These misguided efforts place young people at risk for the well known and sometimes life threatening consequences of homosexual sex and promiscuity, not the least of which are human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS)..."

Psychiatrist "Reassures" Parents About Lesbian Experimentation

"...The article describes a parent-faculty meeting at The Spence School, a private enclave overlooking Central Park, where several eighth-grade girls had declared themselves "bisexual." The school called in a Harvard-educated psychiatrist, Dr. Justin Richardson--himself a gay man--to reassure the parents that lesbian experimentation is common, and that it was too soon to know if they would be lesbians or heterosexuals.

At the all-girl Brearly School two weeks earlier, Dr. Richardson told a parent group to advise their daughters as young as nine years old that they, too, may have sex with other girls in the future. "It is a good idea," he said, "to mention that people have sex with members of the same sex sometimes, and that when they grow up they may have friends that do that--and that it may be something that they themselves do."

"A small but growing number of students," the Times article reported, "have come out at these schools, or at least say that bisexuality is stylish." Parents are concerned, and Dr. Richardson--"pedigreed, carefully-spoken, determinedly nonthreatening--has become the schools' gay issues consultant of choice" because he is "sane and clear," according to the Spence headmaster..."

Parental Notification Laws regarding Gay & Lesbian Programs for Youths?

"Parents have the original, primary, and inalienable right to educate their children, and it is the place of schools to assist them. But rights not asserted are rights lost by default. Parental rights are not self-enforcing; they have to be exercised by vigilant and concerned parents."

- Arthur J. Delaney, “The Grotesque World of Today’s Sex Education,” New Oxford Review, p. 16, May 1996.

"If it wasn't so severe and shocking, maybe I wouldn't be so upset, but it is bad, if not worse than I've detailed here."

California's Public Education 'Agenda': Smut 101

"I was reading a news story from WorldNetDaily entitled, 'Lawmakers 'Sanction' Use of District-Approved 'Porn'. My stomach turned, as yours surely will. But, don't spare yourself. You need to know about this, because it is coming your way.

"Instructional materials on homosexual sodomy and a glorified account of lesbian pedophilia" have been approved by none other than the Los Angeles Unified School District and backed up by the wicked California Assembly.

The "materials" are being used in "diversity" and "safety" programs from elementary to high school. In fact, the program's instructors are even referring students to the porn shops where the "materials" can be purchased. They are referring them to porn sites on the Internet, so the students can choose the sort of homosexual or lesbian pornography they are most interested in.

Dad to son: "Say, Junior, isn't that pornography you're looking at on the Internet?"

Son to dad: "No, dude, school project, man."

Dad to son: "Cool. But... isn't that a guy?"

Son to dad: "Yeah, man, dig it."

Dad to son (head tilting sideways): "Well, uh, do your best son."

Holy smokes, Batman, what is this world coming to? Ruination comes to mind. My husband and I saw this coming. You see, we "served" 5 years in Central California. And then, Praise God, we were able to flee the state.

While living in California, we were subjected to the public school system - A double whammy. We were there when they passed the law that required schools to begin "sexual orientation tolerance" programs. Before we left the state, I had to review the "innocent" sex education film for our 4th grade son.

Parents were allowed (how kind of them!) to pull their child from the program if they chose. They could come view the videos, etc. I went to the - for lack of a better word - "showing," but we ended up not allowing our son to participate in the program. We knew about the "agenda" they were planning to implement into the system. It's called "tolerance." Of course, at the "showing," the program seemed innocent. But now, as we feared - not even a year later - they are approving homosexual and lesbian smut for the children to learn "tolerance" and "diversity." Oh, please, I am going to be sick right here!

The 'agenda' is even worse than what is in the WorldNetDaily article. The homosexual forces, inside the public education system, are planning field trips to gay parades, homosexual guest speakers and 'one-on-one' counseling, for kids to talk about their "hidden" feelings, concerning their sexual orientation. We suppose that the districts will simply "push the envelope" and the fruity California Assembly will rubberstamp it.

Assemblyman Dennis Mountjoy, R-Monrovia was quoted in the WorldNetDaily article, "The material is being put forward under the guise of tolerance and diversity, but it's inappropriate. It's lewd and lascivious ..."

Well thanks, guy, but anyone in their right mind knows that homosexual and lesbian handbooks do not belong in school, they belong in the back corner of a smut shop. Hey, these days, the kids don't even belong in public school, as my husband and I found out the hard way (Which brings up the issue of home schooling. Our decision to home school our children was made during our internment in California, so we have at least one thing to thank the state for)..."

The Invasion of American Education

"They say the way California goes today, the nation will go tomorrow. Well, right now homosexual activists are enjoying victory after victory in the California schools. They are behind a whole series of bills that actively encourage students to appreciate homosexuals and even embrace their lifestyle...

Gay lobbyist Eric Astacaan, from the California Alliance for Pride & Equality, argues that these bills are just aimed at protecting gay students. He says many have faced "being followed in the restrooms and being taunted and being pushed around, shoved around, to the point some of these students were so afraid to go to school because of being physically assaulted."

Backers of these bills say they just want to make sure that homosexual students can feel safe and not discriminated against in the California schools. But opponents warn this is much more about actively promoting homosexuality.

For instance, the book Young, Gay and Proud is recommended reading in the Los Angeles school district. It starts out, "There are lots of ways for gay men to have enjoyable sex." Then it goes on in graphic detail to describe those sexual practices.

In a family setting, we can only hint at how graphic the book’s descriptions really are, but it lays out how to have each kind of sex with yourself or a gay partner. Here's another quote: "In sex there are no rules. One of the great things about being a gay person is that we're not held back by a lot of the limits and fears of heterosexual society."

Another recommended book features fond memories from 16-year-old Amy who was seduced by a teacher. The book quotes her as saying, "I have been a lesbian since I was twelve. I had known my dance teacher for three years before she brought me out." Amy then graphically describes the sex.

The Los Angeles school district recommends students go get books like these at a West Hollywood porn shop. There, the kids will find free magazines containing ads soliciting sex.

But some of these same magazines, like Lesbian News, may already be on display right in their own schools. At one middle school, the assistant principal herself put the magazines out at the specific request of the principal. Therein the kids would find invitations to homosexual pool parties, erotic clubs and gay date lines, as well as ads for sexual paraphernalia and homosexual sex movies..."

Activists lure children into homosexual experimentation

"... Following in the destructive wake of such social infirmities comes yet another commotion that over the issue of sexual orientation. Homosexual activists have largely spent the 1990s manufacturing intense confusion about the cause and nature of their lifestyle.

What is the effect on children and teenagers when they are surrounded by a message that not only defends homosexuality as normal, natural and healthy, but recommends it as a sexual taste? Are young people being recruited into the homosexual lifestyle?

Confusing impressionable minds

Even in the best of times, young people very often find themselves confused about many issues not the least of which is sex. Whether it is part of the normal adolescent journey to sexual identity or a spin-off effect of the current debate over homosexuality, some young people do question whether or not they are heterosexual...

Obviously, this early period of confusion is a critical time for young people. But the resulting confusion created by homosexuals about sexual orientation adds to the sexual confusion of young people. And even more insidious is the manner in which homosexual activists take advantage of this confusion by enthusiastically encouraging young people to experiment with homosexuality.

In Northboro, Massachusetts, for example, parents of freshmen were stunned to discover that their kids had been invited by their high school history teacher to try homosexuality. History teacher Douglas Matthews an advisor to the school's "gay-straight" student alliance handed out a questionnaire that asked, "If you've never slept with a person of the same sex and enjoyed it, is it possible that all you need is a good gay lover?"

Homosexual porn via the classroom?

It may shock parents to learn that the nation's public school system is being used by homosexual activists as a conduit, herding confused children into the homosexual community. Under the guise of protecting homosexual teens, young people are given unrestricted access to homosexual groups. Once channeled there, however, there is no limit to the depths of same-sex debauchery to which teens may be exposed..."

Former Lesbian and Teacher Fights Homosexual Agenda in Schools

"When Linda Wall found out what was being taught in many U.S. schools about homosexuality, she was not only shocked and saddened, she was angry. A former lesbian and a former teacher, she knew she couldn’t sit back and let it happen, especially in her home state of Virginia.

"One night I was surfing the Web and saw an article that said ‘AT&T sends pro-homosexual video to middle schools'," Wall said. "I kept looking and found 13 pages of pro-homosexual library books being put in the schools. I sat there and thought, is this happening in the whole country?"

"I can’t let this happen. They cannot be seducing children into what I was seduced into," Wall said...

She has already heard about a number of cases where children, without parents’ consent, were introduced to homosexuality as a normal and acceptable lifestyle. One involved a homework assignment showing families with two women and a child and two men and a child.

"One of their techniques is to redefine the word ‘family'," Wall said of those promoting the homosexual agenda. "They are piggy-backing on diversity, trying to equate a behavior with culture."

In another situation, a 16-year-old girl who was questioning her sexual identity was referred, by her school counselor and without her parents’ knowledge, to the organization Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).

Counselors are being trained to send the kids in that direction," Wall said. "Homosexuality is being endorsed and promoted with wrong statistics and misinformation, and no alternative is being offered."...

When I started investigating this thing, I saw that there was definitely an agenda out there to indoctrinate children into homosexuality,” Wall said. She said while she has often found parents who are upset by incidents in the schools, many of them are afraid or embarrassed to speak out, or else have tried but have been treated so poorly by school officials that they do not pursue it any further.

"One parent called me to say that they were adding oral sex to the curriculum at her child’s school," Wall said. "They had questioned administrators about it, but were told that so many kids were doing it that they had to add it to the curriculum. The parents were made to feel so humiliated that they didn’t go any further with it."

As in many states, in Virginia each school district has a lot of leeway regarding curriculum, which is one reason Wall and other pro-family activists are looking to pass a state law preventing the promotion of homosexuality in the classroom.

She is calling on parents to get involved and find out what is being taught at their children’s schools and then be willing to speak out if it is not acceptable.

"In 1993, the chant of homosexuals during the Washington Gay Pride Parade was ‘We’re queer, we’re here, and we’re coming after your children,’" Wall said. "And that’s exactly what is going on in our schools. There is no gay gene, people aren’t born homosexuals, so the only way to get people in the lifestyle is to recruit them. That’s how you spread your agenda."

Still, she believes the battle can be won. "If we get enough parents involved, we will do it in Virginia. Then we’ll challenge every state in the country to follow suit."...

Every last gay person I know that has discussed it with me (there have been several - and no, I'm not gay myself) has told me that they knew they were "different" since as far back as they can remember.

You really base your opinion on the testimony of those who practice perversion? And when those who did drugs “discussed it with you” did you believe it was OK for them too? How gullible is to base ones knowledge on what people anecdotally tell you, I guess you’re among all the other sheeple in the world who are too lazy to find the truth for themselves. Those who practice perversion do it by choice, it's a disorder, and many have the courage to say so, too bad your friends don’t have the guts to admit it. You’re just another lemming who believes what ever they’re told to believe.

Let me ask you something: If this were true, why have we never seen the phenomenon of little boys having crushes on other little boys?
Yet any straight man can clearly recall his earliest attraction to girls.
I can honestly remember girls from when I was in the 3rd grade.

You know what is pathetic about your type? You have absolutely no concern about the innocent kids being subjected to homo-indoctrination.

These claims are nothing but lies and half-truths put out there to get simple-minded folk all in a hissy-fit. How about actually doing some research, and find out from an objective source what they're all about?

The closest you will find to an "objective source" are the people who oppose them -- and I know that sounds like an absurd statement, but you have to understand: the people who are on the gay radicals' side don't believe in fairness.

Your knee-jerk response that these are "lies and half-truths put out there to get simple-minded folk all in a hissy-fit" is a good indicator of how effective the Gay-stapo's propaganda is. You would believe that inaccurate information was "put out there" for someone's twisted amusement rather than believe that there are homosexuals that -- apparently unlike the ones that you are friends with -- have the intent to subversively promote their social agenda through the schools behind parents' backs.

If all they're teaching is tolerance, then I'm all for it.

Well, then you're against it.

Here is the defintion of "tolerance" from Merriam-Webster online:

Main Entry: tol·er·ance
Pronunciation: 'tä-l&-r&n(t)s, 'täl-r&n(t)s
Function: noun
Date: 15th century
...2 a : sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own b : the act of allowing something : TOLERATION

Let's see if the GLSEN practices the "tolerance" it claims to teach. From a Cybercast News Service report about a GLSEN-sponsored conference in 1999:

Cathy Renna, director of community relations of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), told attendees at a symposia on "Responding to the Religious Right" how to approach journalists writing stories on gay issues.

"One of the most important things you can do is have those tough conversations with journalists about when it is completely inappropriate to run to some radical group like the Family Research Council because of misguided notions of 'balance,'" said Renna.

Above all, presenters and attendees discussed strategies to portray religious voters as extremist and homosexual activists as mainstream.

"We are now in the position of being able to say, we have the high ground, we have the facts, and we don't have to go one-on-one with these people," said Renna. "We've come such a long way - we're the mainstream now."

More here: Gay-stapo's Campaign Against Balanced Reporting Goose Steps On

This is the attitude that the GLSEN, other education groups, and their supporters in the media bring to public school classrooms. They have "the facts," and they will teach your children that they are right and their parents -- if they disagree -- are wrong.

No one is going to "convert" your children into homos. Your children know already if they like boys or girls.

And where did you get that? Even the experts the homoactivists site don't state that as fact, and the anecdotes of your homosexual friends do not represent everyone's experience. For a high-profile example, take Rosie O'Donnell, who claims she didn't realize she was a lesbian until her young adulthood, when one day she was in a car checking a woman out and saying, "I think I'm totally gay!"

If one day, little Johnny comes home and tells you he's got a new boyfriend, will you be prepared, or will you banish him from the house forever? I can guarantee that it will happen to someone reading this,

No you can't.

and there's not a d*mned thing you can do to stop it.

It's real easy to condemn a stranger to Hell for being a sexual "deviant", but quite another when it's your own child. Kinda shakes your belief system.

I am interested in YOUR belief system -- that is, your belief that GLSEN, GLAAD, and other radical gay groups couldn't be as subversive toward children as we say they are. Based on mine and EdReform's voluminous replies to you, are you convinced yet? And if you are not, what do you need to see/hear/read that will do the trick? I am sure that whatever the threshold, there is something that they have done/said/written that will meet it and exceed it.

Governor’s Commission Lies Continually About ‘Safety’ and ‘Suicide’

(Homosexuals Recruit Public School Children)

"Safety
A speech by a homosexual activist in 1995 revealed that he had used "safety" to delude Gov. Weld and the state legislature into adopting the homosexual agenda for the schools of Massachusetts. The speech was titled Winning the Culture War and was given by Kevin Jennings, Executive Director of the "Gay and Lesbian and Straight Teachers’ Network," at the "Human Rights Campaign Fund Leadership Conference" on March 5, 1995.

"If the Radical Right can succeed in portraying us as preying on children, we will lose. Their language ‘promoting homosexuality’ is one example is laced with subtle and not-so-subtle innuendo that we are ‘after their kids.’ We must learn from the abortion struggle, where the clever claiming of the term ‘pro-life’ allowed those who opposed abortion on demand to frame the issue to their advantage, to make sure that we do not allow ourselves to be painted into a corner before the debate even begins.

"In Massachusetts the effective reframing of this issue was the key to the success of the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth. We immediately seized upon the opponent’s calling card safety and explained how homophobia represents a threat to students’ safety by creating a climate where violence, name-calling, health problems, and suicide are common. Titling our report "Making Schools Safe for Gay and Lesbian Youth," we automatically threw our opponents onto the defensive and stole their best line of attack. This framing short-circuited their arguments and left them back-pedaling from day one.

"Finding the effective frame for your community is the key to victory. It must be linked to universal values that everyone in the community has in common.

"In Massachusetts, no one could speak up against our frame and say, ‘Why, yes, I do think students should kill themselves’: this allowed us to set the terms for the debate.

"In Massachusetts, we made creating an environment where youth could speak out our number one priority. We know that, confronted with real-live stories of youth who had suffered from homophobia, our opponents would have to attack people who had been victimized once, which put them in a bully position from which it would be hard to emerge looking good. More importantly, we made sure these youth met with elected officials so that, the next time these officials had to vote on something, there would be a specific face and story attached to the issue. We wanted them to have an actual kid in mind when they had to cast their votes. We won the vote in the Senate 33-7 as a result..."
