GLSEN (Gay and Lesbian Educational Network) Assault on Broward County Public Schools!!!
Steve Kane Show ^ | 04/18/02 | Self

Posted on 04/18/2002 6:15:19 AM PDT by Caipirabob

GLSEN is at it again folks. They're trying to infiltrate Broward County Public Schools to promote their version of homosexual propaganda upon innocent children. Steve Kane on AM 1470 in SoFlo is covering the details between 6:00AM-10:00AM in advance of the vote by the school board on Tuesday.

For those of you unfamiliar with this group I am including a link to a site that provides details on GLSEN and it's agenda for the public and in particular, your children. You can learn more about this here.

Many of us are familiar with the travesty that occurred in the Massachusetts Public School sysem where GLSEN ran workshops where children were exposed to workshops that taught "fisting" and other "techniques" for gay sex. This is what they will do in Broward if given the chance.

They are here for your children. Are you going to just hand them over?

People may contact the school board by phoning 954-712-2151 or faxing them at 954-765-6568. Paul Eichner is the primary contact but include "all board members" and Superintendant Till. There is more information on who you need to contact at this link.

The vote is next Tuesday. Tell them you don't want GLSEN in the Public School system or anywhere near your children!!! If they get in you might never get them out!

Special Thanks to Steve and Brian for fighting the good fight. If you guys lurk here YOU ROCK!!!

...and now my normal rant.

I'm not at all interested in persectuting or harrassing homosexuals. What goes on in another person's bedroom is none of my business.

It's when the line is crossed and such perversion is openly inflicted upon others that I feel the need to interdict.

The issue in school is not whether or not a suspected minority is being persecuted. The issue is that the normal majority is being subjected to bizzare and perverese behavior and GLSEN hand in hand with the NEA wants to promote such as being "OK".

This just isn't the case. I'm simply astounded that people have been frightened into silence over the propagation of mass perversion.

Homosexuality is a severely profound and disturbing disorder which is typically derived from some psychological trauma so devastating that the individual can longer recognize their own sex despite the obvious evidence that God has placed in front of them.

There has never been any viable evidence to prove contrary to this fact.

The shocking nature of homosexuality is not only offensive to the savy, stable psyche, it is an affront to nature itself.

The decent into to homosexual lifestyle, the "Great Gay Lie" is a path sown with deception, depression, disease and paved with the misery of friends, family and loved ones. The corruption promoted by the militant homosexual lobby feeds this cycle of despair with the lives of our innocent loved ones.

Those afflicted with this life-destroying malady need to seek both psychological and if necessary medical help immediately.

Taking such into consideration, I believe it to be a criminal act to openly support public acts of homosexuality and inflict such behavior on those who find it intolerable. We won't even go into the issues of violating the civilian rights of innocents and the outright persecution of those who possess religious values.

Out of site, out of mind. The fact of the matter is that homosexuality is not normal, and if the minority chooses to subject our innocent children to such, the minority is going to find themselves in a very uncomfortable situation once the parents become involved. Loving adults are simply not inclined to sacrifice their children to the likes of the militant homosexual lobby.

Make that call today!

Parents and other concerned community members need factual information about GLSEN and the homosexual agenda. Some of this information has been compiled in GrandMoM's thread:

Assemblyman MOUNTJOY opposes promotion of homosexuality in public schools.

Ask Steve Kane to post the URL to the thread on his web site (www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/626785/posts).

Broward School Board considers pact with controversial gay group

By Bill Hirschman Education Writer Posted April 18 2002

One of the most controversial issues the Broward County School Board has faced in the past six months will erupt again Tuesday. The board will reconsider ratifying a proposal by GLSEN, a gay rights group, to teach educators how to deal with homosexual students.

"There is going to be a massive showing. Every pro-family activist I know is going to be there," said Brian Craig, producer for conservative radio talk show host Steve Kane.

Supporters of the agreement will counter, not just with speakers, but with 2,000 written endorsements from residents, officials and agencies, said Mike Record, co-chair of GLSEN Greater Fort Lauderdale. If the board ratifies the agreement, GLSEN would provide district employees with materials and training "to expand their understanding of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons."

The proposal is similar to one the board rejected in October, except the new version removes any reference to providing services to students. For years GLSEN -- an acronym for Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network -- informally provided the same training to Broward principals, classroom teachers, psychologists, social workers and guidance counselors.

Its most high-profile project was a videotape on tolerance shown to virtually every employee. Citing pervasive problems of educators ignoring bullying and attacks on gay students, GLSEN's goal is "to give teachers the skills they need to address and prevent harassment," Record said. GLSEN also advises Gay-Straight Alliance student groups that meet at several schools as outside clubs not affiliated with the district, on the same basis as Bible study groups and Girl Scout troops. The agreement would not change that situation, but not give its blessing either.

Anti-gay activists such as Margaret Hostetter say harassment of gays simply does not exist and that GLSEN regularly misrepresents facts, such as stating that homosexuality is a genetic predisposition. Instead, she said, GLSEN's goal is to infiltrate schools until they can openly encourage homosexuality among children. "This is homosexual propaganda and it has no place in school," said Hostetter, who is running for the School Board's District 6 seat. The board was asked to formalize its relationship with GLSEN last fall, but advocates on both sides created a firestorm. The board finally voted 5-3 on Oct. 16 not to endorse the group on paper.

Board member Lois Wexler, who voted for the proposal with Bob Parks and Beverly Gallagher, said Tuesday she revived the proposal because she thinks she has the votes. "This is about legitimacy," Wexler said. "Bringing it back really is to validate the existence of GLSEN and its relationship with the school district which has been put on hold the entire school year."

The issue comes at a politically sensitive time with five board members seeking re-election: Parks; Paul Eichner, Stephanie Kraft and Darla Carter who opposed the agreement, and Carole Andrews who was absent during the vote.

Throughout the winter Wexler and GLSEN have been gathering support from board members and groups such as the County Council of PTAs. But opponents plan their own offensive. Craig said Kane's upcoming radio shows would highlight parental efforts in other states to reject GLSEN partnerships.

Opponents have often pointed to GLSEN's training materials for in-house presentations in other states, which include role playing games that subject participants to derogatory language. Other material has advice to students exploring their sexual orientation.

One sign of the divisive nature of the issue: Someone in the district headquarters leaked the likelihood of the agreement on the agenda to the conservative Coalition to Reclaim America within an hour of a draft being signed by GLSEN on Friday, Wexler said.

Homosexuality and tolerance have become hot button issues for local liberals and conservatives over the past two years, which has brought national attention. The County Commission and the Fort Lauderdale City Commission refused to award grants to the Boy Scouts for the same reason. The United Way would not collect funds for them. At the same time, the district named an openly gay middle school educator as teacher of the year and Wilton Manors became one of the first cities in the country with a majority of openly gay council members.

The meeting is slated to begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the board room of the K.C. Wright Administration Building, 600 SE Fourth Ave., Fort Lauderdale, but the time the issue will be discussed has not been set. Bill Hirschman can be reached at bhirschman@sun-sentinel.com or 954-356-4513.

BUMP!

FYI - We're getting a lot of people moving on this. I'm telling EVERYONE I know and they are calling and faxing. A group of us are putting together a FAX forms to distribute to our E-mail circles and get them involved.

GLSEN should have learned from WWII about disturbing a "sleeping giant".

You two are doing an outstanding service for fellow freepers here. I hope they learn from your expose's and get involved in their local schools. These vermin can be stopped, but it takes some real effort. It is not just public schools at stake, it is the cheapening and degradation of human existence.

Torrance School Board Cuts Gay Program

1 posted on 4/4/02 10:10 AM Pacific by libertylass:

Being one of the Torrance parents that has been fighting this issue since last year, it is quite a relief that we have been successful in getting G.L.I.D.E. removed from this years Human Resources Convocation. Last year it was P-FLAG that we were fighting against.

Although we understand the need for tolerance to all, the pro-homosexual groups that were at the School Board meeting Monday night (4/1) can only accept one side. Theirs! Typical, I'm afraid, of these types of groups that feel they only know what is best for our children.

Background: In 2000 parents spoke out, en force, against the Torrance, CA. School Board allowing P-FLAG to be a part of the HR forum being held at North Torrance High School, and West Torrance High School. The school board President, Gary Kuwahara, Beth Wilson, and one other board member voted for it in spite of our protests. Mr. Kuwahara claimed that those parents and residents protesting the group didn't speak for the community, even though they were clearly the majority. I guess the minority speaks for the community. Go figure.

At that point us parents were so incensed, and frustrated, that we formed a parents group called P.U.S.H.E.S (Parents United to Stop Homosexuality Education in our Schools). We raised funds through garage sales, and donations. to put two full page ads into our local paper "The Daily Breeze" and that's when "the wave" started. Which is exactly what we wanted.

I'm sorry to say that most of the public is not even aware of what is going on around them, but once our first full page ad was printed the calls, and donations, started coming in. We printed out flyers to inform the public of this very controversial group speaking to our students, and most were supportive.

One of P-FLAG's representatives at this forum was a transexual. He was an ex-CIF football player in school, and a Vietnam Veteran. After marrying and having two daughters, he became a she. He never attained the unconditional acceptance from his daughters even though he/she continued the marriage to his/her wife. Pretty weird and very selfish of him/her, if you ask me.

So, we have been fighting for this result for over a year, and are very pleased of the outcome. Our children can be taught how to be tolerant at home, from their parents. We also have very qualified teachers in the Torrance School District who can generically teach tolerance for all, without special interest groups coming in to override parents' instruction from home.

Mr. Kuwahara was noticeably unjust to the pro-family folks, and lenient to the behaviors of the pro-homosexual group in attendance at the meeting on Monday night. It has not gone unnoticed by any stretch of the imagination, and I will deal with him on a personal level in the next day or two. Beth Wilson even tried to accuse us of censorship, because now her children won't be allowed the opportunity to hear G.L.I.D.E.'s message. I reminded Ms. Wilson that she is more than welcome to have G.L.I.D.E. come to her home and speak to her children, or she can organize a meeting away from our tax-funded campuses. I told her that the censorship accusation was more accurately directed to the school board for not allowing those of us with speeches to use our full five minutes alotted time, and instead cut us off while we introduced a host of frightening statistics that she and Gary Kuwahara didn't want stated.

Parents are now taking a stand all across this country against the lies that have been fed to us for decades. Facts that have been researched and corrected, or many times debunked. But, the changes to these facts have been profoundly denied by the pro-homosexual advocates.

You will not see me use the term "Gay", as it is clearly not a "Gay" lifestyle. Let's continue to protect our children from forced indoctrinations by selfish groups spouting tolerance, diversity, and safe schools."

For those of you who are still uncertain what to do, reread the above referenced quote, and add the following: 1)Make friends with a conservative in the local newspaper and tv station
2)Attend the school board meetings and bring a minicam and tape the entire proceeding(especially the pro-homo teachers and administrators.
3)Turn the video over to the local TV station and request that you be interviewed after they show the video.
4) This will scare most of them off. Very few libs want to be seen throuhout the community promoting homosexuality. But if they are allowed to hide in the darkened halls of the gymnasium, they get bold.
