On a recent visit to my brother's house in Charlotte, NC, I saw the following on my sister-in-law's car:
My question is exactly what does the "Well-behaved women rarely make history" statement suppose to mean? Any opinions on this out there?
or
PRACTICE BRAINLESS ACTS OF RANDOM STUPIDITY
First, I don't think I'll be asking her that question. But it is interesting to note that she now has 3 daughters with the oldest currently a home-schooled four-year-old. I pray for my bother...
Maybe not to the general public. A good mother, however, gets a lifetime of praise and devotion from her family. Goes for husband, father and provider as well.
15 minutes of fame passes quickly, and nobody gives a s*** afterwards. Trust me.
"A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle."
Followed by its rejoinder: "A man needs a woman like a fish needs a gill net."
She's at minimum a feminist and at worst......
You did say she was married to a man didn't you?
Perhaps you should. Those girls will see that sign on a regular basis.
"Mommy, what does this say? what does that mean?"
"Well-behaved women rarely make history"
"Andrea Yates Will Not Soon Be Forgotten"
"Be Green: Help The Earth Live"
"Do Your Part: Off Yourself"
If I ever get an old "junker" car or old Ford Bronco "woods truck", I'm going to put that one on the right side of the back bumper, and on the left side, "HONK IF YOU HAVE NEVER SEEN AN UZI FIRED FROM A MOVING VEHICLE". Of course, in the middle will be, "SNIPER - IF YOU RUN, YOU'LL ONLY DIE TIRED".
Hey watch it, honey, I RESEMBLE that remark!!(as I prepare to drive my Toreador Red Windstar to take my daughter to the orthodontist!)
My personal favorite is my "Ya Mama was Pro-Life Dawlin!" bumper sticker. Sir SuziQ and I were driving down the road one day and a car drove up beside us and the driver had a hand-lettered sign up against her window that read "My mom is pro-choice". We just howled, because she OBVIOUSLY didn't get it!!
Another favorite is "Visualize Whirled Peas".
"I love animals. They're tasty."
I used to live in Jamaica Plain, Mass--home of the free-range lesbian radical (when Big Guy and I were dating, boy did we draw down the wrath of the locals--but hey, rents were cheap...) every car (except mine) had a sticker like this: Free Tibet, Wild Women don't get the Blues, Free Mumia (and or Leonard Peltier), You can't hug a kid with Nuclear Arms, the Einstein one about preparing for and preventing nuclear war, and the great one: It'll be a great day when all the schools have all the money they need and the army has to have a bake sale to buy a bomber.
Another big one in Boston: The media is only as liberal as the conservative companies that own them.
Huh?
Personally, I'm happy with mine: Misfits, Nine Inch Nails, the American Flag and So you're a feminist? WELL ISN'T THAT CUTE!!!
Regards,
The very well-behaved (and quite successful) Repogirl
I couldn't disagree more. Did you ever see her during Question Time in the House of Commons? The woman had a biting, incredibly acerbic sense of humor, and she used it mercilessly. She was brilliant, insightful, and a great leader, but well behaved (in the classic, feminine sense) she was not. And we're better off for it.
By the way, I'd recommend reading her new book, Statecraft. I just got it yesterday, and am only on the third chapter, but she has a lot to say, and she says it well. Love to hear other comments on it.
