On a recent visit to my brother's house in Charlotte, NC, I saw the following on my sister-in-law's car:

My question is exactly what does the "Well-behaved women rarely make history" statement suppose to mean? Any opinions on this out there?

A good mother, however, gets a lifetime of praise and devotion from her family.

Great point. That is the kind of thing one usually gets far away from the spotlight of history.

Actually, history is replete with misbehaving people. We seem to have a morbid fascination with those who misbehave, even to the extreme.

Take Jack-the Ripper, for instance. Everyone knows of him, but I doubt few could name even one of the police officers who worked so diligently in an effort to apprehend him.

Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Caesar, Napoleon, ect and so on are all know for how many people they murdered. I can't bring to mind single name of any of their victims.

My point is, just how important is it to be remembered historically?

What happened to being loved, and happy with those close to you, appreciated for who you are and what you mean to them?

Personally, I would rather have one person sincerely love me than to be listed in every history book printed from now on.

REAL women (and men) don't need the approval of pop culture....

Would to God we had more REAL men and women around!

One I get a chuckle out of has been seen as both bumper sticker and license-plate bracket - "51% Angel, 49% Bitch. Don't Push It!"

How about "MEAN PEOPLE SUCK"? I see that alot around here. Always with liberal bumper stickers. The "mean people" are probably conservatives.

Actually, there are quite a few women in the Bible that have worked, unforntunately I don't have the scriptures in easy access. It was part of a Bible study I did.

Not only did she make history, but our calendar stamps the dates on history from the year (give or take a few years) of her first born!

I teach Senior High Sunday school. My youth pastor gave me the evil eye one Sunday and splained me why. A week back, He had talked to the kids about the influence of music and asked them to seriously think about the music they enjoy. After the service, they were all standing in the parking lot when I came to pick up my kids. As he splained it "I had just talked to those kids and here comes their Sunday School teacher into the church parking lot blasting Metallica's 'Sandman'". I splained him that was all the Metallica I had and if he wants me to play more, he should pony up.

What is even remotely wrong with Metallica's "Enter Sandman?"

"Nope! The point of the bumper sticker was that SHE wouldn't be able to be holding up HER little (my Mom is Pro-choice) sign if her Mama hadn't been 'Pro-Life' in making the decision to give birth to her!"

I know that "SMILE: Your mom was pro-life" is a popular slogan, but I've always thought it very weak in reasoning. That is, countless pro-aborts that have given birth to children. Just because people like Whoopi and Madonna have given birth occassionally (in between abortions) it doesn't make them pro-life. I'm sure they laugh at the very idea.

Yeah, and where's the "Choose Death" sticker too?

Have you seen the "Pro-Family, Pro-Child, Pro-Choice" one? That one really makes me GAG.

Here ya go: Women who put stupid bumper stickers on their cars never make history.

Who was it, maybe it was Michael Savage, who said, "One bumber sticker on your car is OK....two means you're opinionated, three or more means you're a mental case."

Or something like that.

Yeah, the only thing that gets me angrier than that is the Jesus fish with the legs on it that says "DARWIN" in the middle.

Oh come on, maybe you're not into the whole evolution idea, but the cleverness of the "DARWIN" parody on the "Jesus fish" merits some credit.
