Urgent Prayers Needed for Brother-in-law

My brother-in-law, Charlie, was taken by my sister to the local hospital yesterday morning. Friday evening he wasn't feeling well and had slight swelling in his right arm. He has a history of heart trouble and my sister was afraid this was what was the matter. When they got to the hospital his pulse rate was 38 beats per minute.

By yesterday afternoon his arm had swollen to almost twice its normal size and broken out in blisters. He was in critical condition when he was transported to a large KC hospital. A large area around his elbow has turned black. The skin there is dead. The doctors have determined he has a flesh eating bacteria. They don't know what type or how he contacted it.

After some surgery today they are doubtful of saving his arm. There is massive damage to muscle tissue, nerves and blood vessesls. The infection has spread up to his armpit and they are trying everything to keep it from spreading further.

A little about Charlie. He's grumpy, complains a lot, hard headed, stubborn, opiniated and a democrat. On the other hand he is a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will give you the shirt off his back and is always first in line whenever someone needs help. Most of all my sister has been married to him and loved him for almost 44 years.

that does sound like the arm will have to come off. My brother in law was electricuted last year and lost his right arm below the elbow, I know its gotta be tough.

I see your brother-in-law is in or near Kansas City. I hope the hospital checked him for a Brown Recluse Spider Bite. The reaction can be what you have described. You find the spider a lot in the mid-west. Be sure to ask if they did. I pray for him that he will be okay.
