Which parts of the Middle East did God give to the Jews?
The Bible - Authorized (King James) Version | circa 2,500 BC | Moses,

Posted on 04/14/2002 1:37:21 PM PDT by Jack Black

In Genesis 13:14 we read:

And the Lord said unto Abram, after than Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes and look from the place where thou art northward, and soutward, and eastward and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. Arise walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it for I will give it unto thee. Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mam're, which is in Hebron, and built there an alter onto the Lord.

A few questions on this. Is there a standard interpretation of what the modern boundaries of this land grant are?

Would the children of Abram include the Arab nations as well as the Jews? Do both the Jews and Arabs agree on this? (guess that's a rhetorical question)

Later in Numbers 33 we read:

And the Lord spake unto Moses in the palins of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel and say unto them, When ye are passed over the Jordan into the land of Cannan;THey ye shall drive out all the inhabitants of the land from before you, and destroy all their molten images, and quite pluck down their high places; And ye shall dispossess the inhabitants of the land, and dwell therin, for I have given you the land to possess it. ... But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; hten it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides and shall vex you in the land where you dwell.
More over it shall come to pass , that I shall do unto you, as I thought to do unto them.

Finally the exact boudaries are given in Numbers 34:

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Give these instructions to the Israelites: When you come into the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as your special possession, these will be the boundaries.

The southern portion of your country will extend from the wilderness of Zin, along the edge of Edom. The southern boundary will begin on the east at the Dead Sea. It will then run south past Scorpion Pass in the direction of Zin. Its southernmost point will be Kadesh-barnea, from which it will go to Hazar-addar, and on to Azmon. From Azmon the boundary will turn toward the brook of Egypt and end at the Mediterranean Sea.

"Your western boundary will be the coastline of the Mediterranean Sea.

"Your northern boundary will begin at the Mediterranean Sea and run eastward to Mount Hor, then to Lebo-hamath, and on through Zedad and Ziphron to Hazar-enan. This will be your northern boundary.

"The eastern boundary will start at Hazar-enan and run south to Shepham, then down to Riblah on the east side of Ain. From there the boundary will run down along the eastern edge of the Sea of Galilee, and then along the Jordan River to the Dead Sea. These are the boundaries of your land." Then Moses told the Israelites, "This is the territory you are to divide among yourselves by sacred lot. The LORD commands that the land be divided up among the nine and a half remaining tribes. The families of the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh have already received their inheritance of land on the east side of the Jordan River, across from Jericho."

The ol' Pallies have a problem - they're opposing the Lord's people.

How true!

I don't think it matters to the Muslims. You see, they claim that Islam supercedes all previous revelations. IOW, any promises made to the Israelites would transfer to the Muslims. It's kind of like the Temple Mount being no longer Jewish but Muslim Holy Land.

but they shall become adversaries to you, and their gods shall be a snare to you."

And this is exactly what is happening today with the persecution of Jews, Christians and Cathlics.

This is the snare that is being set. It is not true.

I don't know where you got from that scripture that God broke His covenant 'cause it ain't there. His word does not return to Him void. If He promised it, it WILL be.

Close, but no cigar. He actually said: "In you all the nations shall be blessed." That's not the same as saying "receive the blessings(plural)," and it says nothing at all about "the inheritance". If you are going to read Galatians accurately you can't add what it does not say.

Read Judges. Because the Israelites did not kill all of the Canaanites, men, women and children, as God commanded them, and because the Israelites worshiped the idols of the Canaanites, God decided to allow the remaining Canaanites to live in Canaan in perpetual hostility to the Israelites.

Due to the Israelites not completing with suitable vigor the genocide against the Caananites that is desribed in the book of Joshua, God revoked the covenant. The Israeli's land grant from God is not valid, since it has been revoked for about 100 generations.

Who was it who said that if there was a God, he was the Devil? Who else goes around ordering genocides?

Then we have this fixation on race and ancestry through "father Abraham" who allegedly struck a deal or a bargain of some kind with this genocidal spook calling himself "G_d". Thus saith the Lord: obey me, murder whoever I don't like, and lots of swag for you!

Racism and genocide are evil - but only when directed against "the chosen people". However, when "the chosen people" do it, it's okay, 'cause "God said so".

What a shame we Westerners were duped into adopting a religion from the world's largest open air insane asylum: the Levant.

What is that suppose to mean? Do you not think that the Jew is still the apple of God's eye? Or that God breaks promises or voids His contracts?

Read Judges. The Israelites broke the promise by not killing all the Canaanites, and God voided the contract.

Are these the same people who killed God's son?

These would be

Those people, chosen by God then, now, and always (Jeremiah 31:35-40).

Both Islam and Christianity grow out of the same evil root.

The Jew was never "the apple of Gods eye". The Israelites maybe were. But while all Jews are Israelites, only a small minority of Israelites were ever Jews.

>...that God made with your fathers, saying to Abraham, 'And in your offspring shall all the families of the earth be blessed'" (Acts 3:25).

That covenenant was not made with Jews. It was made with the Israelites. If you don't know the difference please click on my Profile.

Don't waste your time with this nonsense folks.   Let Mr. Black
believe this idiocy if he wants.

God gave that land to the Jews, period.   All of it.   From the Gulf of
Aqaba to the Golan Heights, from the Gaza Strip to the West Bank.

Every time you hear a long-winded discussion about the REAL
borders of Israel or whether today's Israelites are the REAL Jews,
just hang up the phone.

Conspiracy theorists perpetually have their shorts in a twist about
these two subjects.

By the way, Mr. LostTribe, your guru, Gene Scott, is a certified
loon.   I suggest torching his pamphlets and reading the Bible instead.

>God gave that land to the Jews, period.

Wishful thinking, like wishing you had won the lottery. A detachment from reality.

No Israelites were called "Jews" until well after the collapse of the original Davidic Kingdom of Israel and formation of the Northern and Southern Kingdoms in about 922 BC. Many scholars place the earliest date of actual word usage ~500 BC, following the return of the Southern Kingdom from Bablyon. Those ~50,000 Jews were Israelites, but only a tiny number of the Millions of Israelites were called Jews. While the numbers are relatively small, the distinction is a major one.

What if I don't believe in God, the Bible, the Torah, or the Qumran? Do I still need to get involved in this mess? Should my tax dollars be dumped into this sewer?
