Daisy Scarlett made a good point over at the Guild thread on this, Chelsea's publicity is becoming embarassing from her world travels and this is a way to score some PR points while getting the daughter back to the states under Mommy's wing (hopefully in Washington)

We'll be needing LOTS of investigation into the backgrounds, views, opinions of the bridal party, the guest, and, needless to say, we'll all have to scout through the news, i.e. newspapers, radio, and TV, to find out what is saying what to whom about whom!
