I think America needs to open its borders to Mexico so that there is not even a border patrol. America is the land of opportunity and freedom. That should be the case for EVERYONE. Not just those that are citizens. There should be nothing seperating people from the opportunity that America offers. It is wrong not to share the wealth America has.

Mr. Green, in post #266 you stated "paul544=taliban."
That's actually a very interesting post, Mr. Green. The enemy/terrorists would like open borders. It would make it a lot easier for them to cross into our country and blend in. It's part of the terrorist training manuals.

Paul, I've avoided this for a day but since this
is still alive, here goes. I would totally agree
with you except I would have to eliminate all
handouts by government and end taxation.
I would also want to cut the size of government
back to the days of President Jackson or at
least the size of just before President Roosevelt
(that's Teddy not Franklin). I would like to
see the citizenship requirement changed to at
least ten years and preferably 15 to 20 years
residency. Of course I would end the minimum
wage which forces other workers to remain
unemployed. With no Socialist incentives to
draw the weak here I believe that only the true
lovers of freedom would come. That was the
dream that our ancestors had that simply
opening the borders alone now could not
duplicate. With true economic freedom thus
encouraged I believe American business could
find new markets and growth in a supranational
prosperity. The plus for us is the third world
could come along for the ride just as far as it
is willing to help with the fuel.

"Sorry... This is my country and I aint leaving." You total buffoon...you continuously deride people for sentiments like this and now you post this hypocritical drivel...
What is your point other than to bait people with your poorly structured and non supported arguments ?

"Gotta love those "Freeping while drunk" posts." Looks more like FReeping while stupid to me.

I agree with you there. I think it's a classic case of a neighbor that envies your stuff, and they just want a piece of it, without necessarily having done anything to create that wealth. Here's the phat irony:
We've told these knuckledheads to stop flirting with socialist, Marxist, totalitarian, et al wet dreams and fantasies and embrace captialism, but in their infinite wisdom, they've refused to listen. Now, they're suffering horribly for it and still don't get it. Capitalism and freedom, with minimal government intervention, is what made this country the most powerful political, economic and military entity the Earth has ever seen.

"Why should the greatest nation on earth not want to help those who strive for better." Very nice thought and in a perfect world it might work. But since we live in an imperfect world, just how long do you think it would be before this was Mexico north? It wouldn't BE a land of opportunity any more because the entire dynamic would change. It is bad enough as it is. Maybe if these people are so dissatisfied they should focus on making their own country a better place to be.

"Or do suggest that they would have let their children die instead of utilizing whatever free health care was available?" That is without a doubt one of the most ignorant statements I've ever heard. This land is rich and fertile. It produced good crops and most of the people farmed from the very beginning of America. Our ancestors were proud people and many would do without before taking charity although neigbors shared amongst themselves.

By your way of thinking, it would be the same thing as saying, "everybody should keep their homes unlocked so that anybody who needs anything has access to it." I mean, who are we to judge who deserves a meal or a change of clothes?

"Much has to do exactly with the flooding of people over the Southern border that isn't happening on the Northern one" Not to mention that Canadians blend. They don't come here bringing a different culture and a different language and expecting US to adapt to THEM.

Regarding your post #238. that is perhaps the most concise and inclusive explanation of the illegal immigration problem I have seen yet. Thanks.

"And your arguments are run of the mill racism" I have read this entire thread to this point and have yet to see a single example of racism from anybody but you and from you I see an incredible amount of pettiness and race-baiting. It makes it even harder to take you seriously.

" I think fear of that, is a ready-made and illogical excuse for not allowing Mexicans to come here." This isn't tin foil hat stuff...these people proclaim their intentions all the while laughing at us for being so stupid.
To: paul544
" I really do think that some Americans are so bothered by an America that does not look like them" Do you ever listen to Michael Savage? I was listening to him a couple of nights ago and there was something that he said that I was very impressed with. He said that a nation is defined by 3 things: borders, language and culture. And he's right. When you lose those, you have chaos. You have people who have no sense of loyalty to the country or to its people. You have people who make it up as they go; they can't see where they're going because they don't know where they've been.

"Nothing irks me more than to go through a drive-thru window where the person behind the counter can't understand me and I can't understand him or her." Amen to that....although there is one that is arguably worse. How about having to do business on the phone with one like that, and when you keep asking them to repeat themselves, THEY get irritated.
