Open America's borders now!!!!
Me | Now | Me

Posted on 04/06/2002 10:29:59 PM PST by paul544

I think America needs to open its borders to Mexico so that there is not even a border patrol. America is the land of opportunity and freedom. That should be the case for EVERYONE. Not just those that are citizens. There should be nothing seperating people from the opportunity that America offers. It is wrong not to share the wealth America has.

"Are you really asking me why I talking about taxes?"

No, oh wandering one, I'm not asking anything. But I am stating that you are changing the subject my asking me if I benefit from my own taxes. We're not talking about me. We're talking about immigrants benefiting from your incredible charity, taxes. You're going in circles...end comms.

"Tuberculosis, violent crime, drug shipments, abuse of free medical care causing hospitals to go bankrupt in droves, flooding of the criminal justice system, massive electoral fraud, disasterously massive fraud and abuse of social welfare programs,..."

You forgot: crowding our prisons; crowding our school rooms; lowering our education standards; lowering wages in certain industries; ghettosizing entire neighborhoods, even towns; lowering property values; squeezing out the local tax base. And let's not forget that the majority of rioters and looters in the first wave of the LA riots were illegal immigrants.

Every one, I repeat, every one of the above items has been shown countless times to be true.
But hey, "We arre the world...we arre the chilllldrennnnn".

Our provider of grist for the mill either is entirely devoid of intellectual capacity, or this whole thread is flaim bait.

Either way, there will be no response to the substance we have provided to this exercise.

But it was amusing to construct a substantive defense for the dignity of our soverignty and the rule of law anyhow.

As well as identifying yet another (host of) reason(s) bill clitun should be rotting in jail.

Sir; YES!!! We NEED to close the borders & weed out the one who DO NOT BELONG HERE!! The best way is to put a bounty of $500-1000.00 on every head of every illegal that is here!! Then ship them out to where every they come from, with the PROMISE that if they every show up again they will be hung by the neck till they are dead!!

I repeat, though, it is my understanding that our border is currently, quietly, being hermetically sealed by the Army.

And BTW, I served in USS Leahy, CG-16, 1981-'84.

Precisely what Mexicans do to Hondurans sneaking across THEIR southern border, catch em once, alright, catch em twice, catch a bullet.

Hey, maybe we could hire the Mexican border patrol!

Hey. if they want the freedom America offers, let them follow the necessary steps to become citizens
Conversely, they could study our history/culture/law and implement the same ideas, freedoms, & structure in their OWN country - MEXICO. (Perhaps they could even make some improvements such as not allowing lawyers to sue the culture into the ground. ) Otherwise if they all come here, we're gonna have to take vacations there to get away from the crowd!

Are you saying that without America, Mexicans do not have the opportunity to earn a paycheck?

I say that Mexicans have that opportunity right in Mexico. Of course, if it is a paycheck they want, then why do the majority live on welfare once here???

Now for reality. America cannot open its borders wide. If we did, you would be competing for your job against someone with nothing. Your standard of living would be lowered to that of a third world nation.

This country is not just about paychecks, as your suggestion that we are an opportunity to earn one suggests. We have a standard of living that is the highest in the world because we all work for it. Should we open our country to anyone from any third world nation, then factory workers, policemen, firefighters, etc., would all need to live in shacks in order to compete with someone willing to earn $1/hour.

That is not "world economics", that is insane.

If they can't build wealth in their own nation, then they must be looking to suckle off this one, right?

You are painting with quite a broad brush. You seem to be suggesting that Mexicans can't earn anything more than $1/hr here in America.

I am not suggesting you be deprived of anything. And let's be honest shall we? You are not all for immigration. You look at immigration as a threat to everything you have.

Is there really anyone on the left proposing open borders?

The ZPG, the trade Union and Treehugger factions seem hold sway among the liberals, I only hear open borders arguments from conservatives. I mentioned George Guilder earlier. It's hard to question HIS conservative credentials. He advocated essentially open borders in his book "Wealth and Poverty" which was the conservative manifesto of the Neo-Conservative revolution.

Historically, each wave of immigration was a net gain for the US. Each wave was also opposed by those already here. "NO IRISH NEED APPLY"! for instance.

What makes ths country great ultimately is virtue. It isn't abstract morality if history shows the beneficial result from allowing others the same freedoms and opportunities as our forefathers enjoyed when they arrived.

We need to fight liberalism directly, on the battlefield of ideas. Political intrigues like worrying about who gains an advantage due to immigration are an empty exercise if we don't possess a superior ideology and the powers of persuasion enough to win over the hearts and minds of men.

Rather than fight immigration and post armed guards at the borders we need to prevent the indoctrination of people everywhere with the falsehoods we oppose. If we can't do that then we will never be able to build walls high enough to keep out the Hun for they are already amongst us.

Imagine if you will, that you were born in Mexico or some other poor nation. You Imagine if you will, that you were born in Mexico or some other poor nation. You live on the streets. Broke, hungry, sick and no hope. If there is more opportunity somewhere else, wouldn't you go? Would you like people standing on the border denying the opportunity to have a better life? Why should the greatest nation on earth not want to help those who strive for better. After all, we are all here because our ancestors went looking for a better life.

You don't seem to understand the law of unintended consequences. The end result of your idea would be that the standard of living of the United States would be lowered to that of Mexico. The people immigrating from Mexico and Centeral America have no idea what self governance is, they are used to guns being illegal, they get their information from liberal sources. Once they start to vote they will vote for Democrats, gun control, and every hand out program on the ballot. They will have no loyalty to this country, they are here for the money. Then You, and I will live on the streets. Broke, hungry, sick and no hope.

It is already starting to happen in the Southwest.
