Hi Jim;
Re: A Wonderful Song about 9-11
I read the posts on Freerepublic.com nearly every day, but I am not a 'poster' myself. I saw your email address as webmaster, and I thought you might be interested in the following:
I have a daughter, Kristi, who wrote a deeply moving song about the terrorist attacks on 9-11. Three weeks after the events of 9-11, we went into the studio and she recorded the song with professional musicians. Since that time, we have been trying to get the song out to the public, as it is very healing for people, but it has mainly been spreading around the world on the internet.
I thought you might want to hear the song; if you go to http://www.kristinelson.com/latest.htm you can both listen to the song and watch the video memorial Kristi put together, using pictures from the web and from firehouse.com. Or you can just click http://www.kristinelson.com/mama.WMV to listen to the song and see the accompanying slides which Kristi created.
Kristi has gotten emails from all over the world about this song, and she feels that has truly been an inspired process from the beginning. She composed the music and wrote the lyrics, and what you will hear is her singing it.
Kristi turned 16 years old this last August. Her song is dedicated to the children of 9-11.
Thanks again for your time. I appreciate the job you all are doing to keep our nation free; God bless you and let me know what you think.
Dr. Brad Nelson
Daddy didn't come home last night,
and he won't be back next year.
There's an empty place at our table now,
and our eyes are wet with tears.
How could I have known what would happen that day,
when our nation's freedom was tried?
A hateful act brought our buildings down,
and innocent people died.
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I miss my Daddy
keep him safe for me
Hold him in Your arms tonight
and Mama will hold me.
When he waved goodbye I never thought
that's that last of him I'd see
and when he drove away to work that day,
my dad was leaving me.
Oh Lord, I love my Daddy
keep him safe for me
Hold him in Your arms tonight
and Mama will hold me.
Later on he called my mother,
and said his last goodbye.
He told her that he loved her,
and she began to cry.
Though some say daddy's gone,
I know he's right here
watching over all of us,
and we've no need to fear.
Chorus:
Oh Lord, I miss my Daddy
keep him safe for me
Hold him in Your arms tonight
and Mama will hold me.
Oh Lord, I love my Daddy
keep him safe for me
Hold him in Your arms tonight
and Mama will hold me.
Hold him in Your arms tonight
and Mama will hold me.
Bump.
"In the aftermath of September 11, a song of the heart has come forth. A song of comfort. A song whose truth will hit you in the heart. It is no exaggeration to say that this is beauty in its purity. Written and sung by a child of America, "Mama Will Hold Me" offers hope and comfort to families devastated by 9-11. The composer/singer, Kristi Nelson, age 16, has dedicated her touching ballad to the children who were left behind. Kristi is deserving of our highest accolades and thanks for using her great talent as a gift of beauty to us all." - from www.KristiNelson.com/latest.htm
Another bump up.
I found it at one of my NEW favorite places:http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/finduser?user=Jim%20Robinson
Thanks Jim, for posting this.
Thanks RonDog, for the bump.
Somehow, these images and words need to be before the American public more.
How soon another breaking news story captivates our short attention spans.
How quickly over-educated elitists in front of the media's spotlights succeed in making Americans feel guilty for going to war.
How suddenly, it seems, the public can lose its resolve.
America was attacked on 9/11.
Innocent Americans senselessly murdered by the thousands.
WE MUST NOT FORGET.
Yes, I do. Thanks a lot, Ron.

"Upon request, I have collected links to many of the earliest threads from September 11, 2001 below. I reviewed threads from the very first FR report (http://www.freeRepublic.com/focus/fr/520255/posts) through thread number 520326. Feel free to add other significant threads, including photo archives. Bumping this thread periodically instead of the original threads will also avoid scaring people with the headlines.Bookmark this thread, and bump it from time to time when the nation and the press seems to forget why we need resolve in the face of evil. Forgive some of the early misinformation and broken photo links, and recall the horror and fury..."
God be with all the children who lost a parent; the parents who lost children; the husbands and wives who lost their beloved spouse!
God bless America!
