Amy Rhodes, a cruelty caseworker with PETA, said the group is opposed to any event that uses animals as a form of entertainment. "Specifically, it's very demeaning to the animal," she said.

Well folks this is obviously a genius.

Rhodes said it teaches children that animals are disposable and it's acceptable to use animals in order to make money.

Seems to me animals that humans make money on and interact with are the survivers. Are cats, dogs, cows, pigs, or horses going extinct. Of course not, only those animals that humans cannot interact with (by law) are going extinct.

I have a suggestion for a replacement event. Round up every PETA idiot they can find, put 'em in a fenced-in area, and take turns kicking the daylights out of them until such time as they develop some sense.
