Amy Rhodes, a cruelty caseworker with PETA, said the group is opposed to any event that uses animals as a form of entertainment. "Specifically, it's very demeaning to the animal," she said. Well folks this is obviously a genius.
Rhodes said it teaches children that animals are disposable and it's acceptable to use animals in order to make money.
Seems to me animals that humans make money on and interact with are the survivers. Are cats, dogs, cows, pigs, or horses going extinct. Of course not, only those animals that humans cannot interact with (by law) are going extinct.

On behalf of Donkeys everywhere, I wish to sue the public at large. Thousands of youngsters every year pin a tail on my client, thus demeaning his self-worth, and mocking those poor creatures whom may have been born without a tail. Where do I file my papers?

demeaning? LMAO, as asinine as it is to not want to KILL animals for food or clothes, it is still a hundred times more respectable as THIS. DEMEANING? Who the hell cares?

You gotta be kidding. PETA is cow dung.

"....PETA says the event sends the wrong message to children watching. Rhodes said [the event] teaches children that animals are disposable and it's acceptable to use animals in order to make money." PETA is doing this already, in fact, PETA is showing us that it can be a wildly successful method of fundraising.

I have to agree with PETAs attempt to ban this event.
Cow counseling costs to help the animals reestablish their wounded self-esteem could lead to an increase in beef prices.

"Demeaning to the animal?"I clearly heard that cow say,"I want to take a dump on the public school system!"

"Specifically, it's very demeaning to the animal," she said.Yep, a real genius. Hey lady! Just being a cow is demeaning. There's no going downhill from there.

group of animal rights extremists that the fundraiser is demeaning to the animal
I'm sure the cow is concerned about.

And the school is actually going on with the event, even though there was an objection by a reputable group of wing nuts?

I have a suggestion for a replacement event. Round up every PETA idiot they can find, put 'em in a fenced-in area, and take turns kicking the daylights out of them until such time as they develop some sense.
Humane? Nope. Entertaining? Damn right!
Hell, I'd pay to participate in that myself.

bunch of crap...no pun intended...

Just sent this to my co-workers...
I called PETA HQ in Norfolk, VA and left word on their answering machine about how shocked I am over this and that I am offering to make a donation towards the Physcological therapy that this cow is going to need after this "traumatic" experience of pooping in a field while people watch.
Anybody wanna match me dollar for dollar on my donation? Let's show the world that "we care" about a cow pooping in a field. This is outrageous and an insult to the dignity of this cow.
To hell with the terrorist threat to the nation. To hell with nuclear devices, a chemical attack, use of biological agents. We must not lose focus of the important things in life... cows.
What next, horses, goats, chickens, or woodchucks? We must stop this now!
Is there no justice! Is there no humanity!
Bill
