Mr Simmons,
This is to advise you about a push poll that was directed to me last night about 9pm in East Hampton. After establishing I was a likely voter, the oldest male and was a republican I was asked who I would vote for. After telling them the republican candidate most likely (because I don't know you because of redistricting) I was asked a series of questions which included (not exact wording) :
1. Simmons voted for 450 million in retro active tax benefits for Enron.
2. Simmons voted against school building.
3. Simmons voted against allowing us to sure HMO's and taking away benefits from elderly.
He then asked me would I still vote for Simmons. I told him his questions were based on flawed premises and that this was a push poll. I was surprised that he didn't tell me Simmons was an ax murderer but yes I will still vote for the ax murderer.
The contact person I was given for this poll is Amy Collier, 215-641-2200 ext 2247. I left her a message telling her the polling company was lower scum than Clinton.
I am angry about this call and am willing to offer whatever assistance I can to you in the upcoming election in East Hampton, please let me know what I can do to help.
Ray
Firstly, Their candidates/philosophy are essentially failures.
Secondly, their role as a "spoiler" is miniscule. Just compare libertarians to the Green Party.

Robinson's Maxim: If you vote for anyone other than a Republican you are supporting a Democrat.
Good luck.

The goal of our politicians is to make us irrelevant. They don't give a rat's @ss about the people who work every day, provide the jobs that provide the wages that provide the confiscatory taxes that they piss away.
I am disappointed that little pinheads like AV come onto this board with an arrogant attitude and a chip on their shoulder, not offering anything but hot air to the debate. Unfortunately, I have no answer. What I do know is that I can't in good conscience give money to the GOP or support people like Simmons anymore. It would be wrong. In fact, I can't be a member of the GOP anymore. We just don't agree.
As my wife just said, I have to give AV credit just for being a Freeper. He may be an @sshole, but he's our @sshole. Sigh.
I have to run, but I'd like to share the letter I'm mailing to Christopher Shays in response to a fund raising appeal I got yesterday.
It follows this message:
Well if you didnt give money to any organization, and only and organization can contribute soft money, how did you make a soft money contribution to Lazio?
Voting for a Republican who is not really a Republican is enabling that person to undermine you.
As Rush Limbaugh said, 'I'd rather have a real liberal than a fake one.'
I have never known Kevin to be wrong. Your performance on a number of pro-drug threads has completely confirmed that description of you and your ILK.
As to the Enron thing, his vote was for a tax cut for all companies.
As to the school building issues he had no idea what they were talking about. In the CT legislature he supported school building. His only guess was they were targeting a procedural bill.
As to the HMO's and the elderly he said he he supported a local CT bill of rights when in state legislature and he also supported a federal bill of rights.
He again personally thanked me for advising him about the push poll because it helps him to see which way they are coming at him.

Dear Congressman Shays:
This letter is in response to your fund raising mailing I recently received. Because of the volume of political fund raising mail I receive I put together a form letter that Ive attached as the last few paragraphs of this letter. I wanted to take the time to write you a personal thank you.
We have exchanged emails in the past and those emails have reinforced my opinion that you are the smarmy liberal elitist that I thought you were. I was at a political gathering recently and someone commented that you believe that 'every word that comes out of your mouth is a pearl cascading on the ground for the common people to pick up.'
Unfortunately you and your ilk have become the voice of my party. Since I registered Republican on my eighteenth birthday I have been a proud member of the GOP. I have served on town committees, donated generously and faithfully to candidates throughout the years, and have even thought about running for office from time to time.
I wanted to thank you for helping me to realize that Ive outgrown the Republican party. I am morally and intellectually opposed to so much of what our party has become, but Ive been hanging on anyway, hoping that my opinions and yours can co-exist under the so-called 'big tent.'
Ronald Reagan is my hero. One of my favorite quotes of his is 'I didnt leave the Democratic party. It left me.' As Ward Connerly said recently, the Republican party has left me as well.
I cannot share the tent with people that support the weakening of the ability of the American people to voice their political opinions and the right to freely associate with others who share those opinions. Thats exactly what Shays Meehan does. I heard you admit on the Sean Hannity show that 'smaller organizations' will be shut out of the campaign process. Thats un-American, and thats unconstitutional. More importantly, thats morally reprehensible, no matter how you couch it.
So the day President Bush signs your bill is my last day as a Republican. I wanted to thank you for forcing me to make that decision.
Best Wishes,
My name
Dear Candidate or Organization:
I received your recent fund raising request. I will not support any candidate, party, or organization that voted for or supported Shay-Meehan or McCain-Feingold, referred to by the media and supporters as Campaign Finance 'Reform.'
Any officeholder who voted for or supported this attack on the U.S. Constitution violated his or her oath of office. I also do not wish to be associated with any organization, party or PAC that supported this abomination.
Please remove me from any supporter list you may have. If you have been using me as a reference, please cease immediately.
Please also remove me from any and all mailing lists.
Thank you,
My name
A blank letter? The wisest choice someone like you could make. I'm sure the staff got almost as good a laugh at nothing as they would have had you actually submitted to his office your thoughts on ANY issue. LOL
Libertarians on FR tend to take on issues like the WoD, the income tax, and RKBA.
VA, TA, CJ, KC, Dane, etc. sware that Libertarians are irrelevant.
VA, TA, CJ, KC, Dane, etc. dedicate themselves to taking us on.
VA, TA, CJ, KC, Dane, etc. swear by their own words that they have dedicated themselves to irrelevancy.
If I thought that reason for being was irrelelvant, I certainly wouldn't admit it in a public forum.
It's sooooooo well said. Like, ya know, whatever.
The liberals followed this strategy in voting for Nader. Look what it got them.
