Mr Simmons,
This is to advise you about a push poll that was directed to me last night about 9pm in East Hampton. After establishing I was a likely voter, the oldest male and was a republican I was asked who I would vote for. After telling them the republican candidate most likely (because I don't know you because of redistricting) I was asked a series of questions which included (not exact wording) :
1. Simmons voted for 450 million in retro active tax benefits for Enron.
2. Simmons voted against school building.
3. Simmons voted against allowing us to sure HMO's and taking away benefits from elderly.
He then asked me would I still vote for Simmons. I told him his questions were based on flawed premises and that this was a push poll. I was surprised that he didn't tell me Simmons was an ax murderer but yes I will still vote for the ax murderer.
The contact person I was given for this poll is Amy Collier, 215-641-2200 ext 2247. I left her a message telling her the polling company was lower scum than Clinton.
I am angry about this call and am willing to offer whatever assistance I can to you in the upcoming election in East Hampton, please let me know what I can do to help.
Ray
You said you gave soft money to Lazio. You then proceeded to say you give soft money by contributing to a national party organization that funnels it to the candidate, or you give it to an outside organization that runs ads for the candidate. Then you said you didnt give any money to 'any organization'.
The difference is between you telling the truth or being outted as a compulsive liar.
That's alright with me, because the inteligent posters here see right through you.
And the childish attempts at making fun of a poster's name only shows how bad your position is.
I could only wish I was as efficient with my words as you are with yours. You make perhaps the most important point on this thread.
I've seen about 3 or 4 on this thread. The others are from your side of the tracks.
Well said. That's why Hillary is inflicting herself on us through the Senate right now.
Why is that the "irrelevants" become so much more relevant around election time?
Take us Libertarians, we don't, count or matter, but we are blamed for so much.
I wish you guys would make up your mind.
Pretty much settles where you come from.
The following organizations gave soft money to Lazio. These are only a couple, because I got bored. There are almost a hundred.
NEW YORK REPUBLICAN FEDERAL CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE
NEW YORK STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY
REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE - RNC
CAPITOL HILL PRAYER ALERT COMMITTEE ELECTION FUND (CHPAC ELECTION FUND)
21ST CENTURY REPUBLICAN VICTORY FUND
5TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT REPUBLICAN CLUB
That is SOOOOOO absolutely well said!
BUMP!!
(good thing I spit my coffee out on my leg instead of the keyboard...)
If you knew me, or any other libertarian that I know, you would realize kevin is lying.
So that makes him a criminal? All politicians took soft mony contributions, INCLUDING Libertarians. Are you one of the people who advocated voting for the Shredder in Chief (Hillary "I made a mistake, my accountant made a mistake" Clinton) because you didn't like Lazio? Yeah, we get lots of people like you here at FR.
NO NO NO, I'm not saying he's a criminal. I'm just refuting what Junior said about soft money. Jeez...I LOVE soft money.
I already know a lot of both "Libertarians" and the "libertarians". That is why I agree with keven's soooooo well said comment.
Definitely sounds like a push poll to me. Its a bit early for these normally, but then again people will experiment with new things to see how they work. Getting people angry at Simmons early may level out early poll numbers, making the Dem. look more attractive and making it easier for him to raise funds.
As to how to fight back? Keep the pollster on the line as long as possible. Sounds like you may have done some of that. Keep them busy. If they spend 30 minutes on the phone with you, that is 15 fewer people they can call.
