Does anyone know if the bill, in its current form, will aid the Democrats?

"What we've really done for a couple of hundred million Americans is to give them the opportunity to be heard again. ... They've been rendered silent by the influence of big money," said Sen. John McCainUnless of course they wish to be "negative".

Note the 60 to 40 margin. They could not override a veto if Bush has the guts to use it.
This issue will test his mettle as well. And from the sound of it, he's going to stab conservatives, Republicans, and this nation in the back.
Dear President Bush: Can you say "One term?"

The junior Senatrix from California - Babs the Babbler Boxer - the most dishonorable piece of crap to ever dirty a seat in the US Senate. Oh, sure, this law will make all politicians become decent, honest and honorable. In a pig's eye. The only thing it does is shift around the money handling so as to fool the idiots who make up the voter pool. Public funding - let's make everyone pay to elect these miscreants. Bah! A pox on them all! The only way to restore some of the lost liberty in this country is to limit taxation - radically. Say, a flat tax of 10% - period - with a Constitutional amendment that says that only a supermajority of the voters can change it.

REAL campaign finance reform needs to consist of only two items: 1.) Full disclosure of contributors and amounts. 2.) Much, much, smaller government with, of course, the associated tax decrease. With the government staying within Constitutional bounds, there will be less of a financial incentive to grease the system. The real winners in this entire debacle are incumbents (it will be even harder to challenge one) and the media (king-makers). I used to respect John McCain and gave him some slack for what he went through in Vietnam. No more!!!! By pushing for this, he has whored himself before the entire country.

McCain acknowledging that it is likely that large portions of this bill will be struck down by the Court. So he is admitting that he pushed forward a bill that he KNOWS is illegal. Sounds exactly like the democrats he is in bed with.

Remember the Internet Freedom Foundation (IFF)'s Black Web Site campaign, when Congress threatened to crackdown on Internet content (i.e., censorship)? One could cynically ask where are they and the ACLU are when CFR actually does threaten free speech via the Internet, but let's look beyond that obvious double standard liberal free speech advocates employ to further unstated agendas.
Maybe we should instead turn our web site backgrounds to red. Red would both denote our anger about Congress attempting to legislate away our Constitutional right to free (political) speech, but also to be a not so subtle reference to the communist tactics used to usurp our capitalist marketplace for political communications. It also brings to mind the blood shed by our troops to secure our right to free speech. And of course red has a psychological effect of inducing passion and tension.
And here is our poster boy to tell 'em what they can do with CFR.
A photo of the Capital building with a red tint might be and interesting ploy too.
