Million Mommies To Get Their Belles Rung in Gun Debate

LOS ANGELES, CA - A healthy debate in the Right to Keep and Bear Arms "Gun Ownership vs. Gun Control: Which Makes Us Safer?" will feature the self-proclaimed "million" moms March vs. the Liberty Belles, a grassroots organization out of southern California. The debate is sponsored by Students for Individual Liberty and will be held at L.A. Harbor College in Wilmington, California on March 20, 2002.
Headlining the event is Liberty Belles Spokeswoman, Anna Zetchus Raetz and Million Mom March spokesman, Charles Blek. Both organizations represent women across the nation who hold diametrically opposing viewpoints on the issue of firearms ownership. Also participating in the debate are Randy Herrst of the Center for the Study of Crime and Jennifer Mendoza, a student in favor of gun control.
"You don't have to be a psychic to predict that this will be a lively and informative debate," declares Marian Hollenbeck, Director of Public Relations for Liberty Belles. "Liberty Belles is most grateful to Students For Individual Liberty for hosting this forum. It will give attendees the rare opportunity to see a representative for Million Mom March who actually agreed to engage in a formal debate with the Liberty Belles Spokeswoman, Anna Z. Raetz, an ardent defender of our Second Amendment rights. It is well past the time for students and the public to hear for themselves the arguments made for and against our right to keep and bear arms without the usual shielding of the gun control argument that the media usually practices."
L.A. Harbor College is located at 1111 Figueroa Place in Wilmington, California. The debate will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Seahawk Center. Admission is free, and all are invited to attend.

Because they've been spoon-fed their facts & they don't really know why they believe what they do. Not one of the actual 'moms' could possibly defend their views, much less engage in a debate on the subject.

"Million Mom March" - Three Words, Three Lies
...Among supporters of the bill were an assistant police chief from San Francisco and a Laguna Hills couple, Charles L. and Mary Leigh Blek (Director of MMM), whose son Matthew was shot in the 1990s in New York during a robbery by teenagers using a handgun. "Matthew's dog, Hoss, had to be registered with our county, including proof of shots. Now, registering dogs is considered just ordinary civic responsibility, why not for guns?" the Bleks asked in a statement given to the committee. As he sat in the hearing room in the Capitol, Charles Blek wore a button that said "Republicans for Responsible Gun Policy."
Somehow, I suspect that two years ago, these "Republicans" were out knocking on doors for Gore/Lieberman.
I will confidently predict that MMM will pull out shortly before the day of the debate. They will come up with some lame charge about the format being unfair or the moderator being biased or whatever. Or maybe the MMM representatives will give no advance warning and simply not show up, since they don't feel any obligation to extend even simple courtesy to those who disagree with them.
Historically, virtually every effort to schedule debates or forums in which gun-control-proponents would be forced to confront knowledgeable RKBA supporters, and to answer tough questions, has failed. The anti-gunners know they can't win against facts and reason and common sense, so they always end up avoiding such confrontations.
Please - you gotta record this!
LOL...I don't even register my dogs! My labs are mine and none of the state/county's business.
Go Anna!
Looking forward to a transcript of this event.
Go, Liberty Belles!
