I've heard talk everywhere about RINOS, amnesty, CFR, and the like. Here's the question. What are we going to do about it.
I finally as of Jeffords defection, learned it was a two party system. Period. I also learned that there is still enough difference AT THE LEADERSHIP level between the democraps and GOP to make a difference. It's the COMMITTEES and JUDGES that count.
I votes third party in one major race in 2000. I voted against Spence Abraham since I have no use for liars. I regret that now. Spence sucked, but he is better than Debbie Stabusall, and because of Stab, Cantwell, Jeffords, Carnahan, Corzine, and Hitlery, we have Tom Dasshole, Ted Kennedy, Chuck Scumer, and the trial lawyer ultra leftist arrogant jackass John Edwards. I am also glad I voted for W. He's not God. He's not even a great president with the Patriot Act. However, he has done SOME good that can't be discounted. He turned his back on Kyoto. He let generals run the war. He told the UN gun grabbers to pound sand. Alwhore would not have done that. He was the best we got in 2000 since Keyes didn't win the primary. Ashcroft isn't my favorite right now either, but at least he's solid on the 2nd amendment. I'd hate to see Eric Holder in there.
If we don't want the dems to win, what the hell do we do about the RINOs? The Fred Uptons. The John McStains(The exception where I'd vote dem). The John Warners. Mike DeWines. What do we do about them? It's a long term committment to clear the GOP of these RINOs.
1. If you are not a member of the county GOP, then you aren't stopping these RINOS from getting started. Please join your local GOP. That's where it starts. Don't take out your anger on Mike DeWine on your local level. They aren't DeWine. Most of them are more likely more conservative than the John Warners out there.
2. Support local conservative reps for office. Open seats are the best bet. I'm backing a solid conservative in a state rep seat. State Reps become the next congressmen.
3. Primary RINOs out of office. Dale Shugars is primarying Fred Upton. MCRGO is backing Shugars. He can win too.
It starts local. If the RINOs don't win the county commish, City council, mayors, prosecutor, or sheriff seats, they can't win higher election. If I know that the drain commissioner is Anti-Self Defense, I don't vote for that person. Today's drain commish, city council, mayor, etc is tomorrows state rep in Lansing. The state reps become congressmen, senators, state attorney generals, and governors. Today's governor is tomorrows president.
I want to get rid of the RINOs. Is turning on the party going to do it. Nope. It gives the RINOs more power. Is primarying them out going to do it. It gives us a shot. Is making sure that RINO's lose local office going to do it...absolutely.
Let's build a solid conservative farm club out there, so we are strong in the big leagues. We need to develop talent, and all of us are capable of brining our ideas to the party. If they don't listen....keep yapping and primarying them until they do listen.
Good luck to Dale Shugars. It's time to send Upton back to St Joe's. There could be another primary soon against another GOP RINO gun grabber. Stay tuned. I'll announce it when it's official.
Oh great you want to have 100 RAT senators.....
RINOS ARE BETTER THAN DINOS !!!!!
And you certainly don't believe in the Constitution.
When George Bush was my Governor before he became
our President he had that example on his website to explain that
the Party was like a Baseball team in the children's section.
Great Minds think alike Dan from Michigan
Here here!!! People forget that last Nov. we weren't only electing a Chief Exec; we were electing a judiciary and a Fed Gov beauracracy. BTW, the libs and socialists never forget this. As I recall they were the only ones to mention judicial appointments during the campaign (and they stick to their guns, as the Pickering "veto" proves). They may scream bloody murder over passage of welfare reform, but they would never vote against Bubba because of it.
Of course philosophy is always involved in politics, but when it comes to pulling the lever, the art of practical reason (and if need be, "nose-holding") is paramount.
Of course, there would be less nose-holding if we could get our guys in at the local level--I totally agree with you there. We could also use a conservative "counter march" through the institutions.
The Democrats and Republicans are two baseball franchises owned by the same people. Win/lose doesn't matter either way -- the team owners get what they want. Sure the games are exciting, and sometimes players switch teams, but in the end, you just get $5 hot dogs and some rah-rah hometeam fanaticism.
The Libertarian Party is a fantasy baseball league who only monitors football games.
The Constitution Party is a minor-league team that has apparently gone to play some exhibition games somewhere, and no one's heard from them in a while.
The Green Party is a baseball team where all the players just want to swing the bat -- at opposing teams.
Anyway, I e-mailed Shugars' campaign HQ, told them I'd be happy to spread the word as much as possible in Berrien Co. I got a nice e-mail back ("Thanks for your kind words and support," etc. etc.) Nothing since then, though.
I really think that Shugars has a chance to take this. The area is still largely conservative. In fact, we used to elect conservative reps. If he gets aggressive, he can win. Folks are waiting to hear someone state their beliefs in clear, unapologetic language.
Bump.
You have it right about the little races, too. Look at Florida in '00. We found out graphically why the Dims fight like tigers over "unimportant" local elections-those "Assistant County Whatevers" may be the ones counting votes someday, and appointing their buds to other jobs as well. This is where the party apparatus comes in, especially in a crisis situation. Remember old Carol Roberts of Palm Beach fame? Remember how much of a nuisance she made herself for the Dims? Prior to that election, no one ever heard of her or cared what party she belonged too. Oh, and she may run for Congress, either state or Federal. The Dims reward good commissars.
Voting Libertarian or Constitution won't help anything, sorry guys, but that's the truth. The list of what third party voting actually leads to is both long and ugly. Cantwell, Stabenow, Bubba(x2!), this is NOT progress to Constitutional ideals, fellas.
Dan makes many good points. Today's town councilor might be next week's Senator or President. The traffic court judge might someday be one of the Brethren. This is where to start, and where to make a difference, instead of crying AFTER the fact.
He NEEDS to make inroads into Berrien too, since that;s Upton's home.
He's got Kalamazoo County and Portage as a base. If he blunts Berrien for Upton, he wins.
You are right to encourage conservatives to get involved with the party organization. I don't think that Rinos in Congress are the problem. The problem is that party establishment. Washington, inside the beltway, we know better than you, attitude that's the problem. We need people who realize that the conservative message can be very attractive.
The reason why minoritys vote democratic in such large numbers is because the Repubs in power think that you have to act like a liberal demo to get their vote. I remember last election the "republican outreach" to minorities included a radio ad which apologized for republican past actions. What @#$%#@@$! Instead of accepting and pandering to rat lies. Republicans should champion their history as defenders of human rights. And explain how the conservative agenda will help the poor. It's the Democrats who should apologize.
