Windshield death suspect back in jail
Bail raised to $250,000; FW woman taken into custody for third time
03/09/2002
FORT WORTH - A woman accused of hitting a man with her car and leaving him to die, entangled in her windshield, returned to jail Friday when a judge raised her bail from $10,000 to $250,000.

Even if the bail is met, Ms. Mallard will spend the weekend in jail. Probation officers in charge of monitoring bond conditions cannot pick her up until Monday morning, said Lt. Mack West, jail supervisor.
Her bond conditions, which 371st District Judge James Wilson set during a hearing, include being under house arrest at her parents' Fort Worth home, wearing an electronic monitor, no driving, no alcohol use, and drug testing three times a week.

Judge Wilson also placed a gag order on Ms. Mallard's lawyer and on prosecutors in the case. Her parents attended the hearing but declined to comment.
Ms. Mallard, a nurse's aide who was fired Thursday after the murder charge became public, sobbed in the courtroom and continually dabbed her eyes with a tissue before sheriff's deputies led her away.
During the hourlong hearing, defense attorney Mike Heiskell brought Ms. Mallard's parents and her brother, a lieutenant with the Fort Worth Fire Department, to testify about the former Girl Scout's willingness to attend future court proceedings.
"I guarantee you she's not going anywhere. She doesn't have anywhere to go and doesn't know where to go," Mr. Heiskell said, asking the judge to "look past the emotion and determine what is right and just."
But Assistant District Attorney Richard Alpert argued that the $10,000 bond Ms. Mallard posted Wednesday was insufficient and that she has an unstable work history and sought counseling only after she was charged in Mr. Biggs' death.
"It's no secret the community is outraged by her actions," Mr. Alpert said. "This defendant has friends who helped her cover up the crime."
Police said Ms. Mallard struck Mr. Biggs in October as he walked along U.S. Highway 287 near the Loop 820 split, and then drove home with him entangled in her windshield.
Although he was severely injured, Mr. Biggs, a former school bus driver and bricklayer who was homeless at the time of the accident, was not dead, police said. Ms. Mallard left him trapped in her car, which she hid in the garage of her home on the south side of Fort Worth, investigators said.
Police said that Ms. Mallard repeatedly apologized to the injured man, checking on him several times over a two- or three-day period, but that she never summoned help. After Mr. Biggs died, Ms. Mallard and at least one friend dumped his body in a nearby park, where he was found Oct. 27, police said.
A woman came to police in February, saying Ms. Mallard admitted to the crime at a party, police said. Investigators questioned Ms. Mallard and arrested her Feb. 26 on a felony charge of failure to stop and render aid.
Mrs. Mallard posted a $5,000 bond that day, but she was arrested a second time after police upgraded the charge to murder Wednesday. She was released that day after posting a $10,000 bond.
A trial date has not been set.
Police said Friday that they are continuing to investigate the case and are looking for anyone else who may have helped dump Mr. Biggs' body.

I guess you could call them true friends according to the old maxim:
"A friend will help you move.
A true friend will help you move a body."
I think I read it was about 3AM. The few times I have been out driving at that time there was very little traffic even on the express ways.
Yes,but Pearl was one of them. The elites, who are supposed to be protected.
All these legalities are making my head spin. How about: vehicular assault with or without intent to maim, kidnapping, abuse, neglect, and finally, wrongful death/murder...in that order? I'm sure the folks here can come up with more...
Obviously, there is a new sport in Texas. Blacks get tanked on booze and ecstasy, then get behind the wheel and attempt to kill whites with their cars.
It's a swell game, and lots of fun!
You get 10 points for simply bouncing a victim off the fender. If he dies instantly you lose 50 points since the point of the game is create an agonizing and painful death that takes days to happen.
It's a 100 point bonus if you are able to levitate the victim's body across the hood at impact and smash him part way through the windshield. There's a 500 point bonus if you stop by the local liquor store for some Kools and Colt 45 Malt Liquor before driving home and locking the poor unfortunate devil in your garage.
An appropriate fate for Chante (just love that name, kind of suggests a Voodoo high priestess) would be to let the victim's family hit her at high speed on a Forth Worth freeway, lodge her in the windshield and take her home and lock her in THEIR garage. If she survives, she goes free. If she dies, well, tough luck.
For an encore, they might want to consider running down her lawyer who seems to thinks that this is much ado about nothing.
Sounds like a good start to me.
She kept "checking on him" to see if he was dead, yet so she and her boyfriend could get rid of the body. Sounds a lot like premeditation to me.
I agree. Both Jessie and Al would be insane to touch this one. There's nothing in it for them. The racial victim/killer relationship goes the wrong way, and there are no ambiguities which they can exploit and distort to muddy the waters and gain more power.

Mother who left baby boy pleads; she's to get help
March 9, 2002
Shaniqua Betty, whose infant son was beaten to death in August by the stranger she handed him to at a Detroit bus stop, pleaded no contest Friday to fourth-degree child abuse.
During a fight with her boyfriend at 1 a.m. Aug. 3, Betty grabbed her 3-month-old son, Isaiah, from the bathtub, wrapped him in a towel and fled into the hot night air. She met Harold Reed, 49, in a bus shelter at Woodward Avenue and State Fair.
Reed, a convicted pedophile from Pittsburgh, befriended the woman and convinced Betty she could safely leave the baby with him while she returned to her boyfriend's house to retrieve her purse and shoes.
When Betty returned less than 20 minutes later, Reed and her baby were gone.
After television stations broadcast a convenience store videotape showing Reed with the baby that night, Reed's family identified him as the suspect. Police arrested Reed, and he confessed before leading police to an abandoned home where the child's body was found under a mattress.
Wayne County Prosecutor Michael Duggan also charged Betty with criminal child abuse, a charge that was condemned by the Detroit branch of the NAACP and others. Duggan said he wanted to send a message to parents and get help for Betty, who had a history of abuse as a child.
It seems that these "civil rights" groups see it as their mission to defend any low-life scum that happen to be a member of their race.
I expect them to weigh in on Mallard's "victimization" at any time.
What you are saying could be true, except the informant said she giggled when she said she had hit a white guy.
The media's purpose is NOT ONLY to lend a sympathetic ear to Mallard, it's even more important to these low lifes that they degrade another important American institution with guilt by association.
The media has been doing this for TOO LONG. Boycott and let 'em know why. Press and TV numbers are dropping.
LET 'EM KNOW WHY!

A few days ago, when this horrid story first broke, I passed along advice similar to the following.
Don't let tales like this make you hardened and cynical. It's what the most cynical need you to become -- they're miserable and want company. Foil them. Please don't dwell on this story too long -- it's dehumanizing to read of such a monstrous act.
Awaken your heart and spark the hearts of all you know. In so doing you'll do your part to help drive out the savages, and that includes the worst ones at the top of our elites.
You will feel better about yourself and so will your neighbors. God will bless you.
I suppose this latest emotional reaction is better than giggling...
