Just substitute neice for daughter; that'll do just fine. I trust you can unleash yourself from the snide post your attached to long enough to make the adjustment.

Jeb Bush is going to take a significant hit on this. Just how big a hit depends on how he handles it. The best strategy for him to employ is total candor --- not slick lawyerly evasions.
Beckett, I disagree. Mug shot photos at that hour make anyone look like a strung out drug addict.
And, with respect to your comments about "they should have known" -- they DID know. They ALREADY made PUBLIC announcements in past years that ONE of their children had a drug problem. They never identified which one. Consequently, the only "surprise" in this story for me was that THIS is the child they were talking about -- not the boys.
And, I don't think he will take a hit on this. Too many people have kids who have drug problems.
Plus, if she initially took this drug because she was suffering from depression, that is several million MORE people you are talking about in this country -- most of whom, BTW, are FEMALES and depressed.

The press may have gotten it from the cops but it still isn't the "Breaking News Item" that MSNBC is making it. ...or Fox News, UPI/Wash Times, or Drudge...
Yep, it's all a conspiracy. A Conspiracy, I tell you!!!

"It is astounding that a 24 year old woman of her background would act so irresponsibly--the granddaughter of a President---the niece of a President---the daughter of a Governor!"The horror... the horror.... what is the world coming to?
"Jeb Bush is going to take a significant hit on this. Just how big a hit depends on how he handles it. The best strategy for him to employ is total candor --- not slick lawyerly evasions. "
We must get this stratagy to the governors political advisors immediately...time is of the essence!!!
"I am disgusted that they didn't take that job seriously enough to prevent this maddening distraction from happening."
Just take a deep breath and repeat after me.... "The world does not revolve around me." "The world does not...

Noone responded to the post upthread that the prescribing doc is a radiation oncologist. That is curious. The pic is so sad,,she looks just terrible. I feel sad for her and Jeb and Columba. And parents often don't know what is going on with a kid on a medication. Still we don't know what is happening with her. She might have been given xanax for anxiety for whatever reason and escalated the dose on her own to control symptoms. I for one will reserve judgement till I know any details. And I do think the press is leaping on this with glee right from comparing xanax to heroin,,gee whiz they even skipped the ever popular vallium. And why is it a surprise that substance addiction including alcohol and tranquilizers runs in families,,there is a genetic substrate to addiction and tranquilizers aren't that different from alcohol. A family with the propensity for addiction has to learn generation to generation that they cannot drink or use tranquilizers. And the kids often don't take the example of the parents to heart until they feel it themselves. This is very sad.

I don't know; calling her a garden implement doesn't make a lot of sense, but it's not abusive, is it?

Oh man, I was addicted to nasal spray for three years while in college. It was horrible. If I didn't use it every twelve hours, my sinuses would close and I would have panic attacks. Thank God a real sinus infection helped me get over that addiction. Actually, it was Robitussin CM... lol.

Why the hell did the moderator delete my post about the DU jackals laughing over this? I think I see the answer in the directions right above this little rectangle:
"Please: NO profanity, NO personal attacks, NO racism or violence in posts."

Whats your point this was intended to be a Republic not a democracy but then they let everyone vote regardless of qualifications. Then they had Senators directly elected and decided they could ignore the Constituition. You social conservatives are just big government liberals of a diffrent king in my opinion.

Hey if you give your bowling buddy one of your Viagra pills, you've both commited a crime, IT'S ILLEGAL.
There are too many controls on medicine in this country, way too many.
Some of us trying to prepare in a survivalist fashion find that we have to buy drugs made for animals because our government doesn't trust us with human medicines. If there's a more severe or widespread terrorist attack and this country's supply lines fail, doctors won't be able to get presciption stuff. Our government has insured that you and I have been unable to prepare for our families ahead of time.

Plus, if she initially took this drug because she was suffering from depression, that is several million MORE people you are talking about in this country -- most of whom, BTW, are FEMALES and depressed. To illustrate the utter hypocrisy of the left on this, look at the Yates position. The woman drowns her children and blames her actions in part on PPD and also the taking on anti-depressants. NOW and several other folks run to her side and say "well, she was pushed over the edge", fawning pity and telling us that it is not her fault, it's due to the drugs, etc.
Yet, with Noelle (sp?), it's time to make hay, and why because she is the relation of the President. Where's the statement that millions of women suffer from depression?
Please, calling all Dem and left-wing lurkers - MAKE NOELLE BUSH AN ISSUE! You will make the 2002 Election Cycle much more pleasant for the GOP.

I said this back a few 100 posts ago, and I'll say it again. First time offenders for this sort of crime in Florida usually get probation and drug treatment, regardless of whom their parents are. I don't see this as a big deal for Bush. It is a big deal for his neice, but not for President Bush. I loved Ronald Reagan, but the two kids he had with Nancy are sure screwy.
This young lady is an adult and from the police photo, she may be a long term addict. Maybe now she will get help.
To: bwteim
No personal attacks? Yeah, because people here have NEVER made fun of the Clintons before. Anyway, its no big deal, I just can't wait to go over there after we win back the Senate and gloat to all of them.

"ZERO TOLERANCE WE MUST BE TOLERANT ZERO TOLERANCE WE MUST BE TOLERANT ZERO TOLERANCE WE MUST BE TOLERANT ZERO TOLERANCE WE MUST BE TOLERANT" Sounds like the RAT cheer to me.
To: Democratshavenobrains
No personal attacks? I believe that the particular section that applied to your removed post was:
"Please: NO profanity..."
It had nothing to do with personal attacks, etc.

"It perhaps could be a blessing in disguise...now she will receive the medical treatment she really needs.....I deplore these commercials on TV extolling the wonders of drugs such as xanox....and how about viagra! have they published the number of men who died as a result of this drug.....I do think we should look to the FDA to compel drug manufactures, who do produce these potent drugs, to clearly explain to physicians the toxicity of these drugs....It seems to me that this girl may have been introduced to xanox by a reputable physician, perhaps she had a condition that required it.....
