Way too many vanity threads lately. And way too much trash being posted. Please try to stay on topic (politics). Also, please do a search on a significant word from the title of your article before posting. This will reduce the number of duplicates. And, along these same lines, please use the original titles on your article posts. Do NOT edit the titles. Do NOT use "My Title" titles. This will also help to reduce the number of duplicates.
And, whatever else you do, please DO NOT post from DEMOCRATS UNDERGROUND (or any other such trashy un-American socialist hangout). Free Republic was intended to be a socialist free zone. We've gone to a heck of a lot of trouble to make it that way. Why in the world would you think we would be interested in having their trash posted here?
And QUIT trashing each other. You know who you are. Knock it off! Way too many flamewars and feuds going on. And, while I'm thinking about it, QUIT trashing our conservative candidates. If you want to criticize someone's position on some policy, have at it. But do not trash or smear the man. That would include Browne, Buchanan, Bush, Keyes, et al, or whomever else may be your favorite trashee (examples listed in alphabetical sequence). The idea is to get more conservatives elected, not to trash the ones you don't like. If you want to trash someone, make it a Democrat. Thank you.
And QUIT dredging up old communist propaganda to smear our conservatives. Sheesh! Whatever else you may think about our guys, they did not hijack airliners full of people and crash them into buildings. No, my friends, not even the dreaded CIA. Anyone who would believe (or even suspect) that crap is no FReeper. I've been pulling this crap whenever I see it and several people have been banned for continuing to post it. I do not want it on Free Republic. Any current FR poster who believes this leftist propaganda, please logoff immediately, send me your resignation via email, and I will delete your account.
Thanks,
Jim
My cursory read of the 2002 budget (Bush's first):
Descretionary spending increase +4.0%
Descrestionary spending increase without military spending + 3.1%
Rate of Inflation (2001, not including Energy spike) +2.7%
Population increase in U.S. +1.5%
Spending increases by department
Agriculture -1.4
Commerce -0.4
Defense +14.1
Education +4.6
Energy -0.5
HHS +2.8
HUD +1.9
Interior -0.4
Interntl Affairs+1.2
Justice -1.1
Labor -0.6
Transportation -2.1
Treasury -0.7
Vet Affairs +1.0
Corp of Eng. -0.6
EPA -0.2
FEMA -0.2 (NWO Power Brokers)
NASA +0.3
Nat. Sci Fd. +0.1
Sm Bus Admin +0.3
SSA +0.3
However, adjusting for inflation is not sufficient to give a real indication, Sentry. You also have to adjust for population growth.
One thing that has to be understood is that while conservatives have held a lot of sway in the Republican party, we have not been the overwhelming majority in the Republican party often, if ever. But we are a lot closer to accomplishing that than we are to accomplishing something such as turning a third party into a viable option.
Constructive criticism.
All my trashy posts are though ;-P
Given that the democrats have gone almost 100% liberal I don't know if that distinction can be made todayThis is true. A "conservative" Democrat is a relative term. At best such a beast would be in reality a centrist, and other than Zell Miller I am not sure I can think of any (and he is not as conservative as he has been playing lately, unless he has changed his stripes from his days as my Governor when I lived down there).
Today's Democrats are liberals, socialists, and communists. And those to the left of them make up the Nader/Green Party goons.
Definition: A person ashamed to be a Democrat but lacks the integrity to change.
