Some FReepers have nicks that are obvious in their origin, others don't. I've seen several that probably have interesting stories behind them.
I thought it would be cool to see where FReepers get their handles from. If you don't like this topic, DON'T POST HERE! No one forces you to read this. I'm sure other people may be interested. If I'm the only one, let me know so I can crawl away in shame.

My screen name was given to me by a fishing buddy, who marvelled at my ability to capsize boats and initiate Coast Guard rescue operations, while in pursuit of the Demon Walleye . . .
Anybody willing to join me fishing automatically qualifies, hence the name of the boat . . .

"Yeah but what is your pirate name? I'm Captain Anne Kidd."
Perhaps you would do me the honor and give me a pirate name.

If I said mine was because I thought Carter and Mondale were the best, I'd be lying.

Mine comes from an homage to The Great One - Rush Limbaugh.
It started when I was in college in the early 1990s, just as Rush was starting to get big. I used to work the front desk in a dorm on campus, and at the desk for the desk workers was a notebook in which people would write their thoughts and feelings, much like this forum: post a thought/article, then comment on it. I would counter any and all of the leftist tripe, which often involved flaming and trashing talking, and sign off wall of my comments with a variation of "I am . . . the Great One". When I started to post here, that's what came to my mind as a screen name.

I just went to What's My pirate Name. I wound up with the handle Black William Kidd. Thanks for the link, it was fun.

The real thing!
I am a hunter, plinker, and round waster not a real shooter. I used to have a Colt Sporter (AR15 without places for special accomodations) and it plinked very good at 400 yards with open sights.
Sold my Springfield 1911 to a x-army shooter, last year.
Would like to get a good AR15 for plinking, maybe shooting.

Actually, I just like the idea of having
The Hair of the dog that bit you. Something I rarely could bring myself to actually DO, when I actually drank too much, which I rarely do these days.
Really, I just have three dogs... so there is usually a lot of hairs of the dogs around. And it has been my sign-in at every other site I have been in. It stuck.

Mine isn't too hard,
My first name is Richard, and when my wife got pregnant we decided that if it was a boy, he would be Aric, the german derivative of Richard, (didn't want naming him after me to be too obvious.) His middle name would have been Morgan. Well, it was a girl, so she is Morgan, and the the next one was a girl, and since we are not having anymore, I thought that I would use it here, and 2000 happened to be the year that I registered.
So, Aric2000, I know, real original huh? But I love this thread, some of these are real good!!

My name comes from a corrupt Senator in the Al Capp's Lil' Abner cartoon.
I'll have to try and find a picture of this funny character.

You have a very good monitor or you are sitting way to close to your monitor or you paid way to much attention to that graphic. But nice find, I enjoyed that. :)
