I know what you mean and sometimes you don't even have to hear the song.

I've gone for walks up to the post office, and invariably that Simon & Garfunkel song "My Little Town" pops into my head as I'm strolling along.

Awww, jeez, now I did it.....

Try singing it to the tune of Hendrix's "Purple Haze."

I know what you mean! I refused to go on the "Its a small world ride" a second time with my wife and kid.

I still get the shakes when I see these guys even....

It sounded great in The Hunt for Red October (movie).

Speaking of national anthems:

La Marseillaise

It really sounds great if your nose is stuffed up and you can imitate Charles DeGaulle.

"It's my party & I'll cry if I want to, cry if I want to, cry if I want to! You would cry too, if it happened to you!" Yikes! Argggghhhhh! It's back!

Ruh-roh, don't tell me - Pat Schroeder's coming out of political retirement? Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Speaking of tunes from hell always sticking in your head, how come all of a sudden I can't get "Beep Beep" (the Playmates) out of mine?

I am Woman by Helen Reddy, and

Chuck E's in Love by Rikki Lee Jones.

I'd rather hear fingernails on a chalkboard.

You could do an awful lot worse than having "Bang A Gong (Get It On)" stuck in your head...Ask anyone who has ever listened to Eydie Gorme solo and isn't named Steve Lawrence...

That's the one> Though I would have taken the tenders of our fellow FREEPers into consideration and tried a little of what Bill James calls Retrobermanism, as in Eydie (The Galloping) Gorme...

For daring to mention Helen (Is Everybody) Reddy in the same breath with Rickie Lee Jones...you deserve to hear fingernails on the chalkboard! I hereby sentence you to...solitary confinement in a padded cell with nothing but food and water and The Brady Bunch Kids to listen to...oops! Sentence overturned on appeal, there is such a thing (still) as the Eighth Amendment!

La Marseillaise...Of course that song gets stuck every time I watch Casablanca...here's looking at you, kid..

It's also kind of hard to get it unstuck when you listen to the Beatles' "All You Need Is Love". Or, when you hear Allan Sherman's "You Went The Wrong Way, Old King Louie," and he wrapped these lyrics over the "Marsellaise" segment:

Louis XVI was the King of France
in 1789.
He was worse than Louis XV
He was worse than Louis XIV
He was worse than Louis XIII
He was the worst...since Louie the First!

Downtown ... yup, that's the one that sticks in my head. Or Georgie Girl. Yuck, yuck, yuck. Can you believe I heard *Downtown* in a store this afternoon? On Christmas Eve, when you would expect to hear Barbra Streisand singing carols?
