Teenage son of my friend is missing since 11/26/2001. He is 15 years old and is from Salina, Kansas. Before he disappeared, he told his friends that he was going to Topeka, Kansas. Because the boy is of an age where he can take care of himself, the PD has already told the parents that they have to do most of the leg work in this case. The parents are devastated and are looking into all possible sources for help. That is the reason for this post.
The flyer that is being circulated in her local area is posted below. It has a picture of the boy. I would appreciate if people living in and around that parts of the country, can print it out and post it in their neighborhood. The Mom of this boy, registered today and she goes by the FReeper name "Lyrica". You can ping her for more info here or via freeper mail.
I thank everyone for your help. If you do not have any information, please pass this information across to anyone who might be able to help. Thanks once again.

My son took similar path about 6 years ago at 14. He ran away, got into drugs seriously, got a girl pregnant, etc. He is now starting find the "right path".
If asked what had the largest effect on him during that period he would tell you it was the change in how his parents handled things and the change was attributable to Tough Love support.

We're sure in your corner. You have a good friend in this Cool Guy! ;-)

Prayers heavenward for the safety of this boy and peace for his family.
What I *don't* understand is this. The police say the boy is of an age to care for himself? He's a child! Can someone please explain?
To: Lyrica
Please keep us up-to-date. Know again that prayers are on their way to the Lord, that He will keep him safe, and allow His Light to lead him out of the darkness that he is currently in.....

It's called childrens' rights, you know know that line of BS that Hillary and her buddies spout. Well, it's the law in most states. If your kid runs away, they won't force him to return home, but they will sure as heck come after you if the kid gets into trouble.

I saw and spoke with my son two days after he left. I told him we loved him and just wanted him home to work this out. I told him we weren't angry (he had been arrested for a fight at school that day principal and witnesses say he did not initiate). He was walking away from me while I was telling him this. He eventually turned and snapped "you just won't leave me alone, will ya!" To which I grabbed him in in a firm hug and told him no I would not because I love him and he's not safe. He broke and ran. He was sent to a juvenile facility last year at our request due to drug usage and an accidental overdose that almost resulted in his death. It is a miracle this boy is even alive right now. We think he is afraid he will be sent there again but we have assured him that as long as he is not killing himself with heavy drugs we much prefer him home. We have told him if he lands there again it will be of his own making through judges orders as a result of his own actions. He has been given the message that if he returns on his own he will not be charged with running but I think he still doesn't really know how to come home (if he even wants to) or what to expect. He is proud, defiant... who knows what he's thinking? *sigh* please pray hard. This is complicated.

They tell me they will go on my leads and any others but that is up to us. They tell us if they spent all their hours pursuing missing/runaway kids age 13-17 that is all they would be doing and they are very busy this time of year. Two are being very helpful. The others have been very lax as far as actively pursuing.

AMEN! And that is exactly what I have told my local dept. and questioned them about. Why they will not actively pursue him but if he is caught on the streets after curfew they send the state (DHS)to our door and suggest we are the irresponsible parents of a minor "so we need to file a report and ask you a couple of questions". Outrageous! Infuriating! No thank you, Hillary.

Thanks for the flag.
He and his family have been added to my prayer list. I do hope someone will continue to update his whereabouts. God does provide sweet peace.

Yes it is complicated, I understand.
Tough road he's chosen to go. Tough years for any kid. Praying he is kept safe till his fog is lifted a bit. *sigh*

Thank you for the ping, Tonkin. I was one of the angry teenage throng and survived many foolish choices. Prayers being sent for Joe and his family. My God watch over Joey and guide him back to the right path.
