Wrong Beatle except for the "My Sweet Lord" reference, buddy.

The Beatles are my all time favorite.
I do however have to admit that I am a huge ABBA fan!
I didn't really care for George all that much, I do love his music and do pray that his family and fans find peace and comfort over his passing.

Gosh, we knew he was near death, but it somehow still seems so very sad! I guess it's because it's the passing of someone I feel I grew up with and like you, Miss Marple, his quiet demeanor made him my favorite.

I was a HUGE Beatle fan, knew all the lyrics of every song and saved my allowance for bubble gum cards. LOL I had penpals in Liverpool and London with whom I traded Beatle pictures and magazines from the U.S. for copies of FAB magazine and postage stamps, etc. from England.

I remember listening to a local New Orleans A.M. station, WTIX, on my tiny red A.M. transistor radio. Every night around 8:00 P.M. they held a "Beatle-Rama" for an hour and George's sister, Louise Harrison Caldwell would call in and talk to the D.J. We thought that was the neatest thing! LOL

Rest in Peace, George. Here comes the sun.

Here Comes the Sun

                   by George Harrison

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright

Little darling
The smiles returning to the faces
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been here

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes (five times)

Little darling
I feel that ice is slowly melting
Little darling
It seems like years since it's been clear

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's alright

Here comes the sun
Here comes the sun
It's alright
It's alright

How sad that on a morning when many of us are touched with sorrow for a passing life - you are moved to bitterness and hate.

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother,
he is a liar:
for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen,
how can he love God whom he hath not seen?

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Irma.

Here Comes the Sun

That's an all-time Abbey Road favorite, Irma. I could listen to it over and over again and never tire of it.

Frank Sinatra called it the greatest love song, and perhaps the greatest song, ever written.

It was his personal favorite - quite a tribute.

My favourite Harrison solo song....What is Life. I don't have the lyrics handy but I loved that one. Of his Beatle tunes there were many of course. Once John was killed I began to think of the others and when they would pass away. Their deaths are mileposts in the lives of the postwar (WWII) generation. I don't think many here on FR shared their politics but we loved the music. A sad day.

I was a disk jockey in the early Beatle Days and used to think they stank. Gimme the 4 Lads anyday, I'd say.

Not long after I began to appreciate their talent (not their politics).

Now I take to playing songs from The Bealtes Handbook on the guitar.

I'm glad McCartney got to see him before the end.
