TBN Televangelists Buy $5,000,000 Home
Deception in the Church ^ | Nov.4,2001, page K15 | LOS ANGELES TIMES,

DITC Commentary: Ever wonder where all those "seed faith" dontations are going? Whose getting rich again? Remind me. It thought it was those people who sent in their seed faith donations who were going to get a "100 fold increase" and that they would be the ones buying luxury homes. What a shock to find out it doesn't work out that way! Duh!!!!

Televangelists JAN and PAUL CROUCH of the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network have purchased a Newport Beach house for close to $5 million, Orange County Realtors say.

Update... Swindoll is no longer president of Dallas Theological Seminary. He now pastors a church in Texas. [And I did read that his manison was on the ocean.]

I have listened to the Bible Answer Man many times (mainly because my husband got most of his ministering through it during the week) when we first met. I don't agree with him on many of his theological opinions, which prompted very interesting conversations (*chuckle*) with the hubby. When I pointed out references to my husband where he was either not fully explaining a point (thru scripture) or erred with some of his interpretations, I didn't declare him a heretic and slam his ministry. I believe he is sincere with what he believes and I pray the Lord will show him His wisdom and understanding.

Just as it is with all ministries, there are differences of opinion concerning key biblical points. That's why we have Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, etc. Problem I do have with heretic hunters... is that they eat their own. I certainly don't agree with all the preachers on TBN...since they are from all different faiths. I don't care for the makeup job Jan has or the pink hair... just as I don't care for the appearance of the purple-haired, nose-ringed, tattoed kid who might sit beside me in church .... BUT it doesn't matter what they look like.... It does matter that they are seeking the Lord with all their heart and that they're sincere. The Word says that we are one body in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 12

28 And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.

29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?

30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues? Do all interpret?

31 But eagerly desire the greater gifts. And now I will show you the most excellent way.

The heretic hunters have a problem explaining this scripture away... because they don't practice these things themselves and try to discredit those that do.

Thanks for posting the info, yaya...You're a class act.

Of course I agree with you about the Liberal Media. Fact is, I myself, have watched these two for years (sheepish grin). I also tuned in the Baker's just for jollies...I had them figured out, tho. I really hoped these two above doing the same thing the Bakers did....foolish me.

Never really thought much about her "pink hair", except to think she was lost in the 50's with "Grease" being her favorite flick to watch..LOL!

Regards, sw

I agree with you about prosperity and, in fact, we recite the "shaken together and running over" verse everytime we tithe at my church...And I did say that Jesus' purse was never empty...I know in the bible it says he has money, never lacked for it. But I also don't see him buying a mansion to live in...Your right about the robe though...I forgot about that. I know what I said before probably looked like I was judging them, and I guess I was...I ask forgiveness of God for that, I don't know their hearts and, no, I don't watch them either. I just don't understand how you could justify buying a five million dollar house with all the lack of anything that permeates our world. This is something I am struggling with as I am about to graduate college and hopefully to become a missionary pilot soon...

Sorry if I am still working this through in my head, I appreciate your input very much...

IN Christ,

I find it very interesting how many FReepers have set themselves UP as God to JUDGE the Crouch's

Judge NOT lest YE be judged.

.Think about this: how many of you in the judgment seat would spend $5,000,000 on food, blankets, etc for the poor if you owned a multimillion dollar TV network?

multimillion dollar TV network

That you built by using God's name.

God wants your money and He wants you to send it through me.

The two characters who just went out & shagged themselves a $5x106 house on oceanfront property located within the burg called, Mailbu, California?

Too funny by half, Mr. Landru. You are just jealous 'cause you don't have snazzy clothes like Paul
or that the missus doesn't have pink hair like Jan's. C'mon, admit it. :-)

"I've noticed for every impulse in human behavior, a contradictory one will spring up to battle it.
Community, War. Hope, Angst. 401Ks, Televangelists."

So go ahead, smartass; publish it.
Here, I'll help;

"Belial's Theorum & Principles Governing the Direct Proportionments of SocioEconomic Theology".

Hell's Bells; Haaavaaaad will simply love it.
Geshhhh; as long as you're on a roll you may as well strike while the *metal's hot*, eh.

OK--OK; I admit it.
In spite of my captialist POV you've caught me flat-footed committing an of *Class Envy*. Damn.
Hey, can I still remain a 'Pubie? Pleazzze?

Gezzzz...I'd just rip-off whatever I'm waering anyway & you can ask my wife if that's not true, too.
So *snazzy clothes* I can take or leave; mostly leave, though...on the floor.
...& as for my wife's hair?
Gaaadsss at least she has hair; pink or otherwise!!

So you see?
My *jealousies* run much deeper than even you realized.

I see your *humor* is as sharp as ever, Mr. Mancini.
...& a very good morning to you, Sir. ;^)

No, she doesn't actually. She suffers from alopecia.

No joke.

No need to apologize.... We all have things that get under our skin, especially when it's something we regard so personally.

We tithe through our local church and support other ministries.. thru radio, TV and missionary outreaches with our offerings. I can say for a fact... that since we've been doing this... the Lord has blessed us abundantly... opening doors for opportunities we never would've dreamed of. Be blessed in your missionary endeavor.... and pray the Lord prospers those of us that give, so you won't miss a paycheck! :)

Do you not see that you are doing EXACTLY what you are accusing me of but in a far worse fashion. I NEVER suggest the Crouches go to hell, you suggested that this may be my ultimate destination. Check yourself, please.

skraeling stated: Your excessive Zeaal may buy you a special place in Hell reserved for the Judgemental.

That is really gross of you to make this statement.

Well PNM; I'll take your word for it.
But my comment was made in the context of how it'd been stated to me by poster, Mancini?
No matter...

"Alopecia" you say?
Is that right...
Sure would explain the pink hair, then; I 'spose.

...she & he have a hell of a house with a Heavenly $1x106 view of the world though, eh.
I guess if I had hair?
Just coming home to such a place every night, might actually result in my growing some of that pink stuff on my head, too...

If they want to dress gaudy, then who are these catholics and episcopalians to criticize them for the way they dress?

I agree. I had to laugh when someone told me that they thought the TBN sets were way too lavish. Most of the furniture and decor is donated.. and I watched video of Jan... (wig, makeup & all) in jeans and sweatshirt... spray-painting the styrofoam " gold pillars" for one of their sets... while Paul walked around giving the tour of the new station they'd just had built.

Paul and some of his guests always poke fun at Jan for her makeup... especially the eyelashes. (she's had them fall off on camera...and plucks the other and keeps going) Who knows "why" she likes it? Who cares?

These people don't seem real willing to give up this world:

Matthew 16:25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.

2 Peter 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.[1]

Somehow I think that will include all the material things these fakers have built up. Too bad they don't believe it.

I suggest we leave the judgment seat open for God Himself.

Matt 12: 36

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

You sound like a financial genius, how would you feel if the $5M became $10M when the valuable property was resold in a few years? Would Jesus praise them for being prudent and wise stewards of His possessions?

Not from my reading of His words. He would praise them if they sold everything they had, gave it to the poor, and THEN followed Him.

I am not saying you HAVE TO sell everything you own to be in the ministry, but, I do not see as valid people who make their millions asking for donations from poor, vulnerable people.....telling them the money goes for the ministry. PUHLEASE!

Regarding your investment statement, I bet they are a not for profit organization---meaning no taxes----but it sure looks pretty profitable. Granted, as individuals they pay taxes, but a non-profit organization should not be paying exorbitant salaries in order to cover up real profit!!!
