"...whether millions of Americans will allow themselves to be treated like convicted criminals for no purpose whatsoever. The only alternative is to stop flying..."

And stop flying, we have, because 'flying' is no longer safe on Government-Regulated-United States-Airlines!! The drop-off in air travel is over 30%, and it will continue to diminish until the Public Citizens 'FEEL' safe.
And what will make the Public Citizens 'FEEL' safe? Well, about 80% of the people asked, including me, have said that the Pilots SHOULD be armed with handguns, so-that they are able to kill anyone attempting to steal their airship, or endanger their crew and passengers! It's a simple solution, and it's incredibley easy to understand, and it is endorsed by every person that wants to take to the sky!
GWBUSH, when asked: "Are we gonna Arm Airline Pilots"?, answered: "No, we don't wanna do that!"
.
As an aside, it should also be noted that retired Police Officers and FBI folks, already Concealed-Carry, who volunteered their gun-toting expertise on Airlines, have also been told to shut-up and go-away!
.
And now, the TAX DOLLARS! How much of your HARD-EARNED Tax Dollars are you willing to GIVE to the AIRLINES?
Wouldn't you rather have an Explorer or a Tahoe?....
What are you a used car salesman or something? The airlines are the backbone of a "healthy economy" and when the airlines suffer we all will experience the trickle down effect Hotels, car-rentals, restaurants, cruiseliners, specialty shops, jobs etc. Get it!
No, I'll pass on discretionary airline travel until they fire these people.
The airlines are too foolish to understand the consequences of dealing with Argenbright, and they deserve bankruptcy.
Two exceptions:
Innocent passengers
Hydraulic lines
If the government would remove their silly regulations on flying armed, then airline "A" could allow pilots and pax to carry and advertise that fact. Airline "B" could advertise no guns, knives, or fingernail clippers allowed.
Then let the people decide on which airline they wanted to fly.
Innocent passengers
Hydraulic lines
Yeah, the terrorist slamming us all into a building is much preferable.
First:
They were searched like common criminals at the gate.
They were disarmed of toenail clippers, pencils, pens, pocket knives.
These passengers and pilots were transported into the "killing zone" unarmed.
They should continue to follow the logic of the anti-gunners.
Dial 911 and pray.
Dial 911 and wait for the police to arrive.
Four aircraft with passengers and pilots followed this procedure on 911.2001.
How many more will it take for the sheep to understand.
end
As a airline employee I always encourage everyone to look at name badges and report employee's who act like jackasses. I too am amazed when I fly out of some airports and see the treatment the airline employees give to our customers. I can honestly say that I "always" bend over backwards to help our customers (even when they want to scratch my eyes out)! I never forget that it's always the customer who writes my paycheck for me. It is a shame that other airline employees don't feel the same. Okay fellow FReepers take it easy on me, okay?
IMO, the weakness comes from CEO's and management who, with a BAAAHHH, unquestioningly go along with the government line.
If you want to make a contribution, how about opposing the unlawful taxation imposed on businesses such as the airlines?
You might be wrong, sure some business flying is mandatory, but I would venture to say that the trend since deregulation has been discretionary and vacation type travel. I believe people have made a conscious choice to fly and can easily choose not to fly.
I have worked for several major corporations. Many trips requiring the airlines' services were not productive or necessary. Let the free market get rid of the dead wood.
If the existing airlines collapse, they'll probably be bought up by someone for $.10 on the dollar.
I like customers with high expectations and outfits doing their best and better to serve them -- even to create the desire for better in the customer base. You're saying "be happy for what you get" -- not exactly a attitude that brings improvements.
Been in the industry for years, eh? That's some wisdom you're saying you've accumulated. Here's two-bits for it, and that's more than it was worth. But then you'll be happy with that, won't you? You're happy for a tuppence, when you are due a pound, aren't you?
I'll pass too. No Muslim is searching me or deciding if I'll board a plane or not. I'll take driving over that any day.
I have never flown much, but each time I did, I hated it. And I certainly would not fly now. When the airlines prove themselves capable of doing a good job for the flying public, then I might consider flying again, til then, I'll drive. I would NEVER submit myself to the security one must go through these days in order to board a plane that will most likely be late, lose my luggage, and be a generally miserable trip to get where I need to go. No thank you, I will drive myself or not go.
I do feel badly for the folks in the airline industry that DO a good job and might lose their jobs because of the cutbacks and such, but I also think it is time the airlines got a good butt kicking for their crappy service, arrogant employees, constant lying to the public, etc.
I bet this would be your robotic response to any question.
