What has happened to Free Republic

Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.
I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.
I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.
All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.
Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?
I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.
Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?
Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.

So, by your definition, if it can be demonstrated that there are people that responsibly use cocaine everyday, would you support it?
I am surmising that this is your defense of alcohol, because of course you must excuse the self-medicating people do with alcohol, because it is the drug of choice for many of our societal elite.

Geez, maybe we shouldn't be allowing women to vote....that's kinda scary, and it's a bit embarrassing to be a woman if that's the way we tend to vote.
yikes.

" I dont advocate their use but I oppose their criminalization." Clinton couldn't have parsed it better. In your earlier post, you did advocate their use. So, which is it? If your not breaking the law the Jackbooted thugs will leave you alone. C'mon, if you're a dope smoker from Colorado, redundant I know, SAY SO. That way, we'll all type slower so you dont miss anything!

If you look at the tenets of Wahhabism and in turn, the Taliban, that is the basis of their beliefs ... to go back to the old ways, no modernization, to live and dress like the old days ..Please point me to the post where I said that.
Some of us want to return to Constitutional government.
Is that an anachronistic view?

Republicans and/or Conservatives are not monolithic. While I am not a Libertarian I share beliefs with them on certain issues. I like Alan Keyes and I like George W. Bush. I support the Confederate flag and yet supported the Gov. of Illinois when he put a moratorium on the death penalty to review its application by race. My Governor was a Baptist preacher, Christian, Conservative, and Republican yet has serious concerns about the War on Drugs as do I. I am a huge supporter of the 2nd Amendment but I am just as huge a supporter of the 1st Amendment (even for speech I do not like). I like Harry Potter and am pro-Life. It could be that lots of Republicans don't fall into neat Fallwellian categories and that Conservatives are not as stereotypical as portrayed. I've found that most Freepers are primarily concerned with the Constitution of the United States more than social policies. Thats not a bad thing.bump for an excellent reply. :)

I don't think that the government is doing a good job of this.

Forget about the newbies and libs, the "post police" are what bothers me now. Censors run the "Free" republic roughshod. Amen, bro. I've taken to calling this place CensorshipRepublic.

Well you of course have the right to your own opinion. All I am going to say is that there are conservatives that are Pro- Choice opinions among others and you seem to be complaining all about how everyone does not have the same opinion as you do. That is not the way this country works and if you have a problem with that there is an easy solution. Go join the Taliban, every one there thinks the same way so they have no problem with whiners like you.We like healthy debate here and listen to each others opinions. If you do not like that then perhaps this is not the right sight for you. cao!

Repeal the 19th Amendment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Actually, you have a valid point. Ignoring big problems doesn't make them go away. To bring about an effective conservative government in this nation, it will be necessary to appeal more to women who happen to, in general, favor liberal positions. This fact likely has a lot to do with W's penchant for compassionate conservatism--just a way to try to appease the ladies.

Hey, you're entitled to your views, but I get a little testy when someone insists the political and religious viewpoint he/she subscribes to is the only voice which should be heard.
I've got a few viewpoints of my own : assembled bit by bit over a 67 year period. I can be pretty hard-headed;but, when the evidence is strong enough, I may change my mind. I have, over the years, concluded :
God didn't annoint either the Republicans or the Democrats;
An awful lot of un-Godly people describe themselves as God's chosen people.
The right of the People to keep and bear arms should be protected and nourished- BUT there are some people who should NEVER be allowed near a gun, a sharp instrument, or anything faster than a 10 speed bike.
If this makes me a disrupter ,sorry 'bout that !!

And I told you the context ... the adage "never get into a battle of wits with an unarmed man" surely sits in regards to arguing with you.Who's arguing?..........are you....;)

How many hard core Bush supporters can you name that's been banned? Probably none, huh? While FR does have a vocal libertarian wing, we're also the biggest Bush cheering section around. Supporting the President won't get you in trouble here.

You suggested that many of us are like the Taliban. Back in #197, remember?
The thing I like most about the Taliban is that they have given everyone on the internet a break from calling each other Nazis.

Please point me to the post where I said that. You're the one who insisted on interjecting yourself into a post that was directed to the person who started this thread. Your logic is mind-numbing.
To: TopQuark
If you have something to say, you do not have to shout. And if you want to learn, you do not tell people to "go find [another] forum," --- you welcome them to contribute instead.and that deserves a bump as well.
To: Arkinsaw
The thing I like most about the Taliban is that they have given everyone on the internet a break from calling each other Nazis. Probably because they are the real thing.
To: BunnySlippers
Interjected? Take a look, at last count there are 319 'interjections'.
