CNN Tuesday Morning: Christian missionaries Heather Mercer and Dana Curry have reportedly been removed from Kabul prisons by the taliban to be used as shields and taken to Kandahar this morning.

If God calls someone to go into all the nations and preach the gospel, they have to go. These women knew that it would be dangerous but God called them to do it. He's watching over them. If it's their time to go "home" to be with Him, then we have to accept that. If it's not, then He'll have His hand on them until they're released. The Christian life is one of service. They are serving Him well, even in prison. Keep praying for them.

Many thanks..We need more conservative young people to stand up...that's for sure. These young girls in Afghanistan are wonderful examples to our youth. They sacrificed everything material to serve others.

I agree with you. While I do not intend to cause any further suffering to these fine young women and their anguished families, the fact remains that many equally fine young soldiers may die needlessly due to their imprudent actions.

There are parts of the world where certain people and perhaps no one should voluntarily go because you are placing yourself in harm's way and someone else is going to have to risk their life to save yours. Your actions may be have been meant to be unselfish, but it is really a very selfish act, once you think about it.

Christians have always been at war carrying Jesus' message of love, forgiveness and salvation into areas of resistance and hatred. The great Commission calls, and believers answer, knowing it matters not what man can do to them. They know that thier days are in the Lord's hands, for His purposes and for His glory.

Somehow, I missed the 2nd part, which declares that they'll be used as shields. They've not been terribly honest, so my hope is that they are lying about the whereabouts of the ladies!

All that being said, to tell a missionary to NOT GO into an unstable country is counter to the whole purpose of being a missionary. We cannot "blame" the missionaries for the poor treatment that they received in a country that does not want their citizens to hear the message that motivates these missionaries. God bless them in what they do and protect them in the lands that they are sent to do their work in.

Although I can agree with your thoughts on placing oneself in harms way is wrong when a country is at war, and this is the very thought that crossed my mind when the Afghanistan leader (Hayg?) was killed.

The difference is that we were NOT at war with Afghanistan or the Taliban when these missionaries went to this country to do their work. Hence your point, although being a valid one, does not fit this situation.

She knew that she would be in terrible danger, and now our troops have to involve themselves with her rescue.

Nothing new there. There are plenty of "unwanted" missionaried in China, Africa, and other countries. They know they are in harms way if they are caught but they go to do God's work, and they should be supported in doing so.

Our soldiers are NOT over there because they were taken hostage. Our soldiers are over there because of what happened over here on 9/11. Please, let's not twist history to make it sound like our soldiers were sent there to save these missionaries.
