I agree with you. While I do not intend to cause any further suffering to these fine young women and their anguished families, the fact remains that many equally fine young soldiers may die needlessly due to their imprudent actions.
Although I can agree with your thoughts on placing oneself in harms way is wrong when a country is at war, and this is the very thought that crossed my mind when the Afghanistan leader (Hayg?) was killed.

The difference is that we were NOT at war with Afghanistan or the Taliban when these missionaries went to this country to do their work. Hence your point, although being a valid one, does not fit this situation.

According to the father of one of the women, he said that she had gone in the quise of a relief worker, knowing that she would not be welcomed as a missionary.

She knew that she would be in terrible danger, and now our troops have to involve themselves with her rescue.
