Congratulations D'Backs!!! Although many in my family are currently throwing a "Bronx Tantrum," I myself am happy.

Enjoy yourselves Phoenix, for it will be THE METS IN 2002!!!

Left me qualify something. When I say what I think he should have done, I mean in baseball strategy what he should have done, what makes the most sense. Like Pinch Hitting for a pitcher when he is leading off the inning but is not going to pitch the next inning. That is a smart baseball move and Brenly did not do that.

Brenly's faith in Kim -- and the law of averages that was overwhelmingly in Kim's favor -- wasn't rewarded with victory, so people like you say he's stupid.

You make some good points about second-guessing, but you didn't see Brenly use Kim in Game 7 (or even Game 6), did you? And this was after he loudly proclaimed that he still had confidence in Kim, and that he would "absolutely" use him again. When it came down to it, he chose using a starter who had pitched the game before over using him.

Because its irrelevant. Who cares what happened 70-80 years ago when one team had about 80% of the resources of the league...it was stupid for Fox to even bring it up during the game. Out of the 4 franchises they mentioned, only the Packers record bears any significance because it was much harder to pull off.

Then why aren't you more impressed with the Yankees winning three World Series in a row, and coming within inches of winning a fourth in a row, considering how much harder it is for a team to do so now?

But the Diamondbacks own the 21st!!!

Congratulations on your team winning, but it looks like in the *two years* so far in this century, the Yankees won one year, and the D-Backs won one. It's a bit premature to say you own an entire century.

Hillary, a lifelong Yanks fan...

Yeah...right!!

Besides...it is a well known fact that liberals are fans of the National League teams. That's how I tell if my neighbors are libs. Other indicators are 1) vanilla ice cream preference 2) The belief that Ike started the Vietnam war.

I'm surprized at all the D-Back fans on the FR. Need to check their IDs more carefully.

"..if the yanks had the strike zone.."

Horsefeathers! They Yawnks didn't lose because of strike calls - they lost because they were out-hit big time.

The Diamondbacks outscored New York 37-14 and held the Yankees to a .183 batting average, the lowest ever in a seven-game series.

That ain't a call problem - that is a major batting problem. The Diamondbacks trounced NY for one reason - they ran rings around them with the bat.

"..if the yanks had the strike zone.."

'rings around them with the bat.' - continued..

Game 6 on Saturday night, a 15-2 romp.

The problem NY had was simple. Banking on pitching, while ignoring hitting.

Yeah, as a Yankee fan, I'm not gonna sit here and blame the strike zone. The Yanks had a heckuva run, but the D-Backs beat our best (Mariano Rivera, who hadn't lost in a post-season closing situation for four years until last night) so you've got to tip their hat to them. Schilling and Johnson were awesome, but the Yankees bats being MIA didn't help, either (they struggled even against Anderson and Batista, and were only able to beat up on Kim.)

"they struggled even against Anderson and Batista"

That specifically was a big wake-up call for me - I kept yelling at NY hitters. It almost seemed like they were asleep at times.

NY will be back alright - and AZ has a fraction of the money. But, this was a real hoot. This time spunk beat bucks.

Jeter does make great plays. At SS, he also plays a brand of ball covering second base that draws muttered curses from opposition coaches on the little league fields of America. Arm hooking, leg whipping and hooking. I guess it's true what that moron Rome says, "If you aren't cheating you aren't trying".

It was very satisfying to see the D-Back runners take the game to Jeter finally.

You were probably an equally classless winner when the yankees won 4 of the last 5 series. Steinbluster will probably fire the whole team now in a hissy fit.

Wonder what Andy MacFail is thinking about his former first baseman? Probably still not good enough to roam the first base line, what with Stairsy, Cooms, and the rest of that cast...

Yankees:

Founded, 1903. 38 Pennants in 98 years = 39% winning percentage. 27 World series wins = 71% winning percentage.

Those who live in the past do so because they have no future.

And BTW, you should check your calculator. 27 WS wins = 27% winning percentage, not 71%. Not that 27% is bad, but still... let's get the facts straight.
