Note From Ted Olson
email

Posted on 10/22/2001 1:17:52 PM PDT by Paul Rodriguez

"I so very much appreciate all the kind thoughts and good wishes expressed by the Free Republic readers.

Barbara was a great fan of Free Republic.

The knowledge of how much Barbara was loved and admired has been my chief consolation in these difficult days.

Sincerely,
Theodore B. Olson"

What an amazing man. I've long been an admirer of him and Barbara, and I'm gratified to know that he is very much aware of our love for him. I do hope it's at least some comfort for him to know that thousands upon thousands of us are sending our love and prayers to him. I wish I could give him a hug.

Paul, thank you for forwarding this, and for your many contributions to the preservation of liberty.

It warms this Freeper's heart to learn that our thoughts and heartfelt prayers on this forum will be presented to Mr. Olson.

Barbara is much-missed, and I can only imagine what Mr. Olson is going through. Her sacrifice has steeled us for the battle that we're in. And as for Ted: his grace and manifest kindness in the past weeks have been nothing short of inspiring. And he himself is a fine example of the most awesome Cabinet and Executive Branch appointments in memory.

How fortunate we are.

That's how I felt; like I'd lost a close friend, even though we'd never met. Any time she came on TV, I'd stop, sit down and listen. I just loved it when she was on.

I miss her. I'll be reading "Final Days."

I've been asked to post this heartfelt note from Ted Olson -- to all of you. Despite everything he's going through -- professionally and privately -- he hasn't forgotten the loves of his life ... and those of his beautiful wife Barbara, who obviously cared for you. Hence this email to you. God bless. God bless Ted and all those who died ... and live on. And God bless America.

Bump for two of America's best. God bless Ted and Barbara Olson.

Thanks for the link Darlin'

Paul, thank you so much for posting the note.
Barbara Olson's death is a great loss, but, more important, her life was an inspiration. I, too, want to make sure my life is spent on the side of truth, justice and righteousness, so that when it ends, however abruptly or expected, I won't leave everyone wondering what it was I believed in, if anything.
Barbara is in the company of angels and saints. God bless Ted as he goes through this next stage in his life. I was widowed four years ago, and I know that he is still in a daze in many ways, and has a rough few months yet ahead. Never forget that God has already won the war, and it won't be so difficult to choose the right side in each battle, national and personal.

To Ted Olson:

My copy of The Final Days has just arrived ..... can hardly wait to delve into it. Thank you for allowing the publishing of it to go forward.

My prayers are with you ..... for peace and strength and courage and that you know the love of God as never before!

Our love, respect, and admiration for Barbara is but a mere shadow compared to yours. But may it be some small consolation to you to know how many lives she touched and inspired.

Thank you for your service to our country. God bless you! And God bless America!

To General Solicitor Ted Olson, Thanks for Sharing Barbara with all of us. I stopped watching the cable news shows some time before September 11th. Simply the same people making the same generally innane analysis. Your wife however was always great and refreshing. God Bless.

Very sad, indeed. Did they have any children? Just curious as I don't know much about them.

Dear Paul,

Just three comments to pass along to Ted Olson when you print out this thread:

Thank you. Barbara, for all your service to America in your all-too-short life.

Thank you, Ted for your service to America that continues.

And thank you, Ted, for the time and thoughtfulness to send a note to us, one of the many communities in America that deeply respected and appreciated Barbara.

We rejoice at your successes. We grieve with your loss that is the greatest burden any man can bear.

To you, Ted, we say God bless you. For Barbara, we know that she has already been blessed and will welcome you when your time in this veil of woe is over.

John ARmor, Esq.
(Congressman Billybob)

Post Script: There is a small, sad fraternity that none of us would ever accept, had we the choice. It is those who have endured the funeral of a wife or hisband, son or daughter. All I can offer you from eleven years in that fraternity, is this: It WILL get easier as time passes. It will NEVER get easy. You must soldier on not because you want to, but because you must. There is no other choice.

That is scant help in your time of sorrow. But I hope it helps some.

When I think about Barbara Olsen, her many appearances on Fox, Hard Ball, etc. come back to me. She made so much sense, and did such a great job of bringing forth the truth on issues of controversy, blunting and turning back the advocates of leftist political correctness and sundry Clinton apologist/mouthpieces. She was more than true to her ideas, ideals, and principles throughout her life. I can only hope to attempt to emulate her integrity in my own life's endeavors. God rest her soul, and God bless Ted Olsen in his time of mourning for his wonderful wife.

Thanks for posting this.

God bless Ted.  Hope he can find some peace in all this madness.

And may Barbara's murderers rot in hell.
