What an inspiring piece. Lisa Beemer has truly risen to the occasion showing the very best of America. It should make all those Hollywood wimps named in Andrea Peyser's POST article ashamed of themselves.

October 19, 2001 -- . . . boldly taking the same flight today to encourage Americans to return to the skies. . . Lisa Beamer was boarding United's newly renamed Flight 81 from Newark International Airport to San Francisco at 8:15 this morning.Did she fly Thursday or is it today? If it is today can we get a FReeper Welcoming Committee to go to the airport?

She's the kind of people that need to be elected to public offices instead of condit-like people.

In the latest Reader's Digest Mrs. Beamer is quoted,
"Many people leave no legacy after they are gone.
But my son's will be told for the rest of their lives that their Dad was a Hero."
I think I have her quote right, I'm writing this from memory.

Just heard that United has canceled its "buddy" passes used for family members of flight attendants and pilots. That includes family member of employees killed on the planes used in the attack on America.

I am a very happy man and have everything, but Todd Beamer's heroism also made my "life worth living again"--and worth giving.
