What is going on in Dallas?
myself | Today | Le-Roy

Posted on 10/14/2001 8:19:00 AM PDT by Le-Roy

Folks, please excuse the vanity, but I would like to get others to look at this.

If there is anyone in Dallas with a telescope or a good set of binoculars, get outside and point them SE, towards Kaufman Cty.

There are currently thousands (literally) of wispy, white 'streamers' of something drifting down through the sky. This stuff is falling all over my yard, all over Forney, and all the way out to Terrell.

Could this be the same 'harmless' stuff which fell in Trappe, MD. last week? I don't know, but it is truly bizarre.

DB, any new news from your area? Yes, I think small planes are at least being monitered. I am close to an Army base, and see a lot of helicopter activity.

One thing that bothers me is the number of tiny private air strips in my rural area.I don'tthink it is possible to monitor the activity of small planes.

Thanks for posting your observation. Regardless of the source of what the material was, it is an interesting occurrence. I have been living in the area for over 14 years and do not recall seeing anything like that but at least I will have a heads up in the future if I do. FR is a great source to turn to for information and advise from fellow members. Unfortunately, there are more than a few who gain some joy in ridiculing others seeking information or assistance in an inquiry. Please ignore them.

Thanks again for sharing an interesting observation.

That's what I was thinking. I just heard a small plane outside, and realized there a number of small airstrips within 25-30 miles of here.

I must say tho' down here near San Antonio we aren't seeing any "whisps" grin

Yes, I'm still here - and this stuff is still here, as well, only now there are very few streamers, mostly just blobs.

If you've ever looked through a microscope at all the critters swimming around in a slide of pond-water, that's about what this looks like, now. I would imagine I have already breathed in some of it, just by staring up at the sky with it circulating around me.

Well, you know - if you are usually blue and turn green suddenly - symptoms like that. ;-)

Have you all reported this to the authorities? Better to be safe than sorry.

"Have you ever given your cat the plastic pull tab from a 1 gallon milk carton to play with? Toss it down on linoleum or tile, and your cat will play for hours."

Yup, they truly go nuts with those things. I find 'em all over the place, they'll sometimes hide one under the blanket. They like hiding 'em so they can "surprise" 'em by pouncing on 'em when they "discover" them again later on.

Yes, I am sure it is not difficult to steal a smallprivate plane. Many of the airstrips are in obscure places, not even near rhe aircraft owner's residence. This makes me wonder how much good airport security will do when other aircraft are available.

but there is usually a steep increase in influenza and other respiratorial illnesses.

For the last 3 seasons there has been an alarming increase in viral, sinusitis, allergies etc. Our pharmacy has been seeing nearly every patient getting some sort of antibiotic, allegra, zpaks etc. Many say they have never had allergies ever. I always felt it was airborne, didn't know how of course. The sy mptoms also have a pattern. I'd said 60% start nasally, the rest in throat. most don't reach the lungs thank God. Another thing is it seems many antibiotics are useless. I found the best success for fever and infection seems to be zpak and cheratussin for the coughs. But one thing is certain it is chronic.

It's also appearing in the Corpus Christi area- to see it you have to look off to the side of the sun -which captures a reflection onto long wisps - looks like 10 ft strands of spider webs.

Thanks for checking in. I was getting concerned. Shouldn't there be some kind of report on this by now?

"Any Freepers here in Kabul that can tell me what's going on?"

Don't worry, it's probably just an isolated incident.

If you want to play it safe, you should probably go out and buy a car.

Check for toxic molds. My daughter, who is in real estate, says that the problem is becoming so prevalent in Tx that insurance companies are refusing to write new policies on older homes, or homes with a history of water damage.
