Folks, please excuse the vanity, but I would like to get others to look at this.
If there is anyone in Dallas with a telescope or a good set of binoculars, get outside and point them SE, towards Kaufman Cty.
There are currently thousands (literally) of wispy, white 'streamers' of something drifting down through the sky. This stuff is falling all over my yard, all over Forney, and all the way out to Terrell.
Could this be the same 'harmless' stuff which fell in Trappe, MD. last week? I don't know, but it is truly bizarre.

What's going on in Kabul?
There are wierd screaming noises comming from the sky, and they are very loud. Occasionally there is are very large explosions over by the airport. I checked the radio and there is only static. My cable is out. The newspaper boy didn't deliver this morning. When I went out on the street and asked the people who were running by what was happening, they spoke some sort of jibberish.
Any Freepers here in Kabul that can tell me what's going on?

I have an 89 year old aunt and at least a dozen cousins in Kaufman, county seat of Kaufman County. I've phoned several of my cousins but all I get is answering machines. They are undoubtedly all at church. I'll get back to you when I hear from them. They'll probably tell me I'm nuts but don't worry, I'll blame you. (:-)

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked the sky, bright and clear as a bell, cool fall breeze, however there is an overwhelmingly wonderful scent of fresh bread, garlic, tomatoes, and basil in the air,
Ooops blush, thats coming from my kitchen....
developing Sorry, just kidding, no problem here, Keep us informed

Nope. Leonids aren't until Nov. 19 and the peak is very sharp and narrow..only a few hours. There's very little going on shower-wise at the moment.
While you can see a (very rare) bolide or fireball during the day, normally not associated with any shower, you can't see ANY meteors from the typical meteor shower during the day. At all..even if rates are hundreds or thousands of meteors per hour. In fact, there are some rather impressive showers which are "radio showers"..can't see them at all because they're during the day, you can only "hear" them on the radio.

Hang in there Leroy. People can poke fun at you, but I want to know what's going on. DainBramage is watching something in the Fort Worth area.
To: DainBramage
What is the radio station call?
Also, what can a fire truck do to a plane in the sky?

SOME EVIDENCE THAT IT IS JUST COTTONWOOD THE WEATHER RADAR IS PICKING IT UP ALL OVER TEXAS..HERE IS DALALS
CLICK..the dopplers in clear air mode can pick up just about anyhting..the fact that its all over texas(go to ND , not there) means its not anything dropped from a little plane in a little area...assuming this is what the doppler is picking up.
To: Somebody4Justice
The call is "unknown situation" with a description of what the caller says. The fire company can do little more than respond to se whats going on, and call for hazmat or ambulances. There have been two companies so far confirm witnesses seeing a small plane flying around the town, and see something in the air themselves, but don't know what it might be. Most likely a false call.

It's good to be vigilant during wartime. However, the level of PARANOIA is getting a little ridiculous. Go back and check how many false alarms that you've seen on this board...
To: newsperson999
by the way, its really neat to watch how the doppler picks stuff up in the summer across the country at dusk....it is actually insects flying up in the sky

I thot the Cottonwood stuff happens in the spring.
To: carlo3b
Mmmmmm....Sounds delicious!...Can I have lunch at your house?
Keep your eyes peeled and let us know if you see anything.
To: DainBramage
I thought small planes were banned over a large city
To: cyberwatcher
So as I understand it now, the terrorist have caused the cottonwood trees to bloom in the fall instead of the spring??
To: Toidylop
Some of the reports turn out NOT to be false alarms, also. If some of us want to follow these threads, that's our choice. By doing so, we sometimes receive breaking news HOURS before the mainstream media reports a story.
To: newsperson999
I have no idea about that.
To: John H K
This went on during the day? Wow. Then it's not a meteor shower. What weapon could it be then?
To: BushWonGore'sDone
Yes, I have seen cottonwood fallout before. I have lived in Dallas for over a quarter of a century (over half of my adult life).
If it were spiders, it would still be incredibly unusual for that many this late in the year, and this was verified from northeastern Dallas to at least 120 miles SW. I'm still baffled.
