What is going on in Dallas?
myself | Today | Le-Roy

Posted on 10/14/2001 8:19:00 AM PDT by Le-Roy

Folks, please excuse the vanity, but I would like to get others to look at this.

If there is anyone in Dallas with a telescope or a good set of binoculars, get outside and point them SE, towards Kaufman Cty.

There are currently thousands (literally) of wispy, white 'streamers' of something drifting down through the sky. This stuff is falling all over my yard, all over Forney, and all the way out to Terrell.

Could this be the same 'harmless' stuff which fell in Trappe, MD. last week? I don't know, but it is truly bizarre.

That's so weird. I live in Plano and was looking into the backyard this morning and saw a clump of white something land near my bird bath. (I assumed it was bird poo) After I read your post I went outdoors and found this clump of spider-webby stuff in that spot. I got the latex protection on and ziplocked it. Wonder who can identify the stuff?

"Spiders usually do this in the Spring ... don't they?"

What if they're genetically engineered Al Qider Spiders?

Cottonwoods release their "cotton" in the spring, it's how they spread seeds. At least they do here in Indiana, anyway.

They are now switching to landlines to covering this incident. One fire crew has witnessed a small plane that was circling downtown,

though I didn't hear what they saw.

It's not uncommon to switch to public service communications on bomb threats, or any type of call that might lead to undue hysteria

from people who monitor with scanners. This is still most likely a false call.

As lousy as the resolution is on webcams, I sincerely doubt you'd be able to see anything...

Yes, I used to be an EMT. We also had a radio frequency not known to the general public.

"My cat has an unusual attraction to plastic."

Have you ever given your cat the plastic pull tab from a 1 gallon milk carton to play with? Toss it down on linoleum or tile, and your cat will play for hours.

Up here in Minnesota starting in November usually, we too see white whispy stuff start to descend from thousands of feet up. Sometimes it is just a dusting, sometimes it can come down and cover inches at a time. Special trucks have to push it off the streets. It is usually all gone by late spring, though. I don't know if it is terrorist related or not -- it doesn't seem to be associated with anthrax, but there is usually a steep increase in influenza and other respiratorial illnesses.

If it's white, is probably Swiss or roquefort cheese. Yellow, it's probably American, Cheddar, or maybe even a mixture of Monterrey Jack and Chedder. Um, Um, Good!
