This morning on Fox News, they ended a segment with a clip of Neil Young, in his old cowboy hat, singing IMAGINE. This was at last nite's show in Hollywood to presumably benefit the families of the victims of the act of war in New York.

Good God.
"Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No Hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too..."
Et cetera, et cetera.
Of all the whiney-assed, inappropriate, totally OUT OF TOUCH things he could have come up with, WHY THIS? WHAT A BURNED OUT, BRAIN DAMAGED, OLD HIPPIE PUNK! SEND HIM BACK TO ONTARIO! But that won't happen. He has a career to resurrect, just like Mariah Carey. Who the Hell invited this guy? David Geffen?

You nailed it. I watched him all the way through in disgust at the inappropriate song choice. He's not, and never has been, a singer. He's a thin nasal whiner who can't get over himself.

I sang/hollered "Sweet Home Alabama" to the TV while he was whining that stupid song...
I HEARD MR. YOUNG SING ABOUT HER
YEAH I HEARD OLD NEIL PUT'ER DOWN
I HOPE MR YOUNG WILL REMEMBER
SOUTHERN MAN DON'T NEED HIM AROUND, ENNYHOW...
You should have seen the look of mixed admiration/wonder/fear I got from my husband when I started that up - he didn't know that I knew any Lynrd Skynrd songs...

Hey people, I like Neil! I liked John Lennon as well. By religion he meant the organized variety that we see in Wackostan, not true spiritualness. They both know there's hell...still looking for heaven

I agree this was THE low point of the show, which had a lot of low points.

IMHO: Neil Young is a goof!
When he started singing that song, it made me sick to my stomach...so I flicked back to HGTV.

Just what is it about that song that is supposed to be so wonderful?!! I wish someone could tell me!
You would think that some of these celebs would have bathed before they got on camera....after all they are supposed to inspire people to give to the victims. They looked like some homeless people who were dragged in.

The most COMMUNIST song ever written.
To: metacognate
They both know there's hell... No doubt.

I decided to watch that 'show' and give it a chance. What a HUGE disappointment! There were very few bright spots. And that ending! Who's idea was that? Reba McIntire was there on stage. Now, if they had let HER sing it, it would have been a great ending! And I bet SHE knew the words!

I was standing on the couch hollering at the TV about the communism in that song. My bride, who knows I am an over the top Beatles fan, said; "didn't John Lennon write that?" I said yes, but it's still got a commie message and is totally inappropriate. We had several similar discussions during the course of this "event." I warned her beforehand that I'd probably be difficult because of the number of "leftists" performing. I was right.

I'm an oldie who loves the guy! I especially love Sweet Home Alabama now, though I liked it when it was popular. Didn't Neal do a lot of antiwar songs during the Viet Nam campaign? (War)

That was a great song, one of the best during the show. READ ALL THE LYRICS. The song's theme is peace in the world.
"Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one"
