I was standing on the couch hollering at the TV about the communism in that song. My bride, who knows I am an over the top Beatles fan, said; "didn't John Lennon write that?" I said yes, but it's still got a commie message and is totally inappropriate. We had several similar discussions during the course of this "event." I warned her beforehand that I'd probably be difficult because of the number of "leftists" performing. I was right.

The attack on the WTC is a refutation of all the leftist ideology of these "entertainers." Floating candles down a river and singing peace songs doesn't make the world one. Evil is real. Ben Laden doesn't need a 12 Step program, he needs a Final Exit visit from the US Delta Force.

I said this on another post, but here goes. My husband and I turned it on but he didn't want to listen. So we turned the sound down and watched while we talked and ate dinner. Just looking at the stage, with everyone dressed entirely in black, long-faced and dour looking, hundreds of white candles burning in the back, releasing clouds of smoke into the air -- at one point there were a lot of black-robed people standing around and it hit me! This looks like a satanic mass or something. A witches' coven.

It's too bad it wasn't more uplifting. I don't know what I expected. We also did not recognize most of the singers. The least they could have done for us old fogies (in our 50s) was identify the performers at the bottom of the screen, like they do with political leaders. I had no clue who a lot of the people were.

Don't know how much money they raised. Hope it was a lot. But it seems to me they could have raised a lot more just going door to door in Beverly Hills and asking for donations from the wealthiest people in the country -- entertainers. I hope every person on that show last night had also made a sizable donation.

Again, didn't watch (or listen to) hardly any of it, so these are just potshots from somebody who has a lot of disgust with Hollywood. They are (legitimately, IMO) despised and feared by devout Muslims around the world becuase they are glamorizing sexual promiscuity and violence in movie after movie. The sleaze-producers in Hollywood have been arrogantly promoting their garbage values throughout the world, and I for one despise Hollywood values.

my feelings exactly. I, too, like the song and am a fan of the Beatles and Lennon ... as a musician and songwriter... but the marxism always put a craw in my belly. Imagine is just that an imagination that everyone would just submit to being and nothing else - sheeples. I can't be a sheeple (been there, not for me anymore). And what about singing American Pie? I love that song, but don't understand why it was included. What was that all about?..."this will be the day that I die" sure was inappropriate under the circumstances. But then again, I'm probably taking it out of the "true" meaning and taking it for word value. I just hope they raised money to help the victims of this horrendous time (not strong enough word).... NO TO NWO.

Did you scare her off or are you still married? :-)
