It's too bad it wasn't more uplifting. I don't know what I expected. We also did not recognize most of the singers. The least they could have done for us old fogies (in our 50s) was identify the performers at the bottom of the screen, like they do with political leaders. I had no clue who a lot of the people were.
Don't know how much money they raised. Hope it was a lot. But it seems to me they could have raised a lot more just going door to door in Beverly Hills and asking for donations from the wealthiest people in the country -- entertainers. I hope every person on that show last night had also made a sizable donation.
Again, didn't watch (or listen to) hardly any of it, so these are just potshots from somebody who has a lot of disgust with Hollywood. They are (legitimately, IMO) despised and feared by devout Muslims around the world becuase they are glamorizing sexual promiscuity and violence in movie after movie. The sleaze-producers in Hollywood have been arrogantly promoting their garbage values throughout the world, and I for one despise Hollywood values.
Sure did. I couldn't figure out what they were doing with all those candles. I was waiting for one of the stoners to trip over them and set the stage on fire. Might have even happened, who knows since a lot of it was prerecorded.
You're right! I watched the first 20 minutes and detested the look of that cheap set and the lack of continuity and audience....the show looked like it was edited together from clips of "stars" who came into the studio whenever they could get their coke spoons out of their noses over the last week to shine on the public. Some sounded OK, but the visuals displayed their real intent, which you absolutely caught.
Art directors, whether Ho-wood or news media types, know that the images say much more than words ever can...I'm sure you've noticed that they usually choose the worst possible photos of W to display -- especially before the election. (And chose the best of Gore.)
