Is Maher/Politically Incorrect Going Off the Air?
Politically Incorrect | September 21, 2001 | GreatOne

Posted on 09/20/2001 11:02:26 PM PDT by GreatOne

While watching the show right now (up late working), it appeared that Maher was saying that he might not have a show for much longer. Whether he's exaggerating or not, I don't know, but he seems to be pulling a Dan Rather (on Letterman) while talking about his controversy, and saying things like, "I don't care if I have my show. What's important to me is telling the truth." Seems like the pressure on his producers/advertisers is working.

That, my friend, is what the channel changer is for.

Is it your position that we have no right to communicate our opinions to advertisers?

A "Propogogist" LOL.

I am sorry you have lost your mind, I know it wasn't much but it was all YOU had. Should you recover rationality perhaps I will address you again but at present I am not interested in getting covered by the spittle flying out of your raving mouth. What passes for your thought is hardly worth addressing at all.

How the hell would a cretin like you know this? You have to have a mind of your own first and the ability to think before you can judge the mind of anyone else.

Maher has every right to express his views without being silenced or intimidated. He does not, however, have any particular right to have those views broadcast on a national TV show. See?

Well stated. The maher defender ought to ask their hero about the second amendment. But most maher defenders can't count to two.

It's a pleasure to read the thoughts of a Real Patriot.

I will second your thoughts. Most people didn't see Sneakypete's courage in exposing that charlatan "Deep in the Hurtgen Forest" back in early '99. Pete was absolutely villified for very politely calling into question that indidvidual's claims of extraordinary military honors and achievements. At that time, DITHF was quite the icon around here, and I've always respected Sneakypete for the grace in which he handled the absolute onslaught of vitriol directed at him by the liar DITHF's acolytes. As it turned out, DITHF was a fraud. It's hard to take a position contrary to the status quo here on FR, even when you are right.

Incidentally, I saw the Maher exchange with D'Sousa (sp?)live and it was immediately apparent to me that Maher's "we" was referring to the cowardice of our political leaders, not our military personnel.

>>I remember when FR was a grand place to debate, and I understand the fire but it's outta control.<<

There has always been a lot of contention back and forth, but I have never seen it like this before. It's like being in high school and telling people to quit picking on the unpopular kid. They have been enjoying rat-packing him,and they are going to rat-pack you too for trying to ruin their fun.

You would like to think conservaties would be more rational than that.

Thank you for the back-up,as well as the kind words. It REALLY burns me up that everybody is suddenly dumping all over Mahr for the ONE subject he has ALWAYS been right on in the past. Hell,I've tried to organize boycotts against this cretin before for some of the outrageous crap he has pulled and said, and couldn't get any responses other than "why are you watching that show anyhow?". Now people are jumping all over him for something he didn't do,and calling me a traitor,a leftist,a coward, and everything else you can think of because I try to tell them this.

>> The maher defender ought to ask their hero about the second amendment.<<

If this is me you are talking about, would you care to compare MY 2nd Amendment stances with yours? You should know that I am fairly well known on the FR 2nd Amendment boards before you start making too many accusations. Ask some of the regulars there that you know.

>>But most maher defenders can't count to two.<<

Care to compare IQ's while we are at it?

Well, I'm thrilled this burns you up. Almost as thrilled as I am that the morally obtuse, asinine, brainless Bill Maher's career is headed down the toilet.

Give it up. maher was on howard stern friday while on his "SAVE bill maher TOUR."

maher was giving his "i support the troops" pitch and said there's no bigger supporter on the military than me.

Robin (sterns co host) said "I don't know, I'm a patriot.

maher said "I'm a bigger patriot than you are."

Howrd stern then said "Now wait a minute bill, Robin was in the Air Force. What branch were you in ?"

The silence spoke volumes. (Maher didn't serve).

Maher is like the phoney democraps who said in the gulf war "i support the troops, but not the war."

He said that the terrorists had "courage", and that "we" were "cowards" for using cruise missiles.

He evidently forgot General Patton's philosophy of war: you don't win wars by dying for your country; you win wars by making sure that the other SOB dies for his country.

That's why we shoot cruise missiles from far, far away at the other guy, so our guy stands a much better chance at not dying for his country.

HorseHillary! If you want to find out what those missles did (or most likely didn't do),you STILL have to send in somebody on the ground to take a look. Ever heard of "Bomb Damage Assessment" (BDA)? This is less true if using cruise missles for what they were designed for, fixed structures that are strategic targets. If you are trying to take out people, you MUST send somebody in on the ground to make sure the job is done. 155 Posted on 09/23/2001 21:27:53 PDT by CubicleGuy

All that asskicking you are taking on this thread must have reduced your wit. Lord knows there wasn't much to spare.

I watched his show last Thursday and Friday (I seldom do, since he makes me sick) and his attitude has taken a 90 degree turn. He was choking up, slightly tearing up and in a half-a@#&d way he sort of apologized if he had offended people. Frankly, humility doesn't suit him. Too many of us remember his true smarmy, mean-spirited, sarcastic side and it makes it difficult to feel sorry for him now, particularly because he had always stuck up for Klintoon. I hate giving his show ratings, but I'll be watching tonight to see if he's still on. Frankly, I would love to see the show remain on the air with a new conservative host (Mary Madeline or Kellyann Fitzpatrick perhaps?), at least that would better befit the title of "Politically Incorrect". I doubt that weenie Michael Eisner will fire Maher, but it would be a awesome thing if he did. BTW, just thought I'd throw this in (quoting L.A. Radio Talk Show Host/Libertarian Larry Elder) "if Bill Maher is a Libertarian, than I'm Rasputin...."

Maher is a tinhorn "stood up" comedian. As with all "celebrities" he goes beyond his intellect. The sad part is that the media allow pieces of human feces like him and others to have credibility. Kick him off the air. He is the MOST politically CORRECT babbler of the left on nighly TV. Celebrity is not synonomous with credibility.
