Eight GOP reps. who co-sponsored amnesty bill voted out of office

Republican voters in search of silver linings need look no further than the collective fate of their party's own amnesty-mongers.

Tuesday's midterm tsunami, which wiped out GOP control of Congress, also washed away a group of Republican legislators best known for having betrayed the party's base by co-sponsoring the DIGNIDAD Act of 2025, an amnesty bill masquerading as immigration reform.

As of Thursday afternoon, eight of those co-sponsors had lost their bids for re-election to the House of Representatives.

Moreover, the full statistical picture looks even worse for those amnesty-loving Republicans. More on that in a moment.

As for the bill itself, GOP Rep. Maria Salazar of Florida originally sponsored the DIGNIDAD Act in July 2025.

"The economy needs them," she said at the time, referring to illegal aliens.

In April, during a renewed push for the DIGNIDAD Act, Salazar tried gaslighting GOP voters into believing that the bill did not provide for amnesty. Her efforts failed. One prominent conservative on social media even accused her of supporting "slave labor."

Still, by February, Salazar had secured 39 co-sponsors for the amnesty legislation, including 19 fellow Republicans. How those Republicans fared on Tuesday should boost sagging GOP spirits.

Of the 20 total Republicans who co-sponsored the DIGNIDAD Act, three chose to retire rather than seek re-election. Two others were non-voting delegates from Pacific islands.

That leaves 15 pro-amnesty Republicans up for re-election in 2026. Of those 15, eight have already gone down to defeat, according to the Associated Press.

The vanquished traitors included Reps. Mike Lawler of New York; David G. Valadao and Young Kim of California; Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania; Gabe Evans of Colorado; Monica De La Cruz of Texas; Jen A. Kiggans of Virginia; and Zach Nunn of Iowa....

The amount of anger that GOP voters had toward the GOP in this election has not been thoroughly examined as much as it should be.

I’ve been asking around. Normally if I were to say or hear of registered republicans voting democrat in any other election that would be a cardinal sin. All I’m getting this time is “oh, well, those stupid liberal republicans got what they deserved this time didn’t they?”

FWIW, I don’t know anybody who voted democrat. I’m just saying, THIS time the idea isn’t offending anyone.

The republicans have so, so betrayed our trust I just don’t think anybody really understands how hot the GOP electorate is right now.

There is no guilt out there for what has taken place.

“We” wiped out the GOP, and it feels justified.

Democrats? What democrats. The GOP betrayed. That’s the end of it. The GOP betrayed.

As others have noted, latency at the FR website has become quite problematic.

Eight fewer Republican representatives does NOTHING for our cause and the cause of conservatism. This isn’t good news in any form.

I bet their Democratic replacements will be dedicated opponents of the DIGNITAD act!
They will likely sponsor 100% open borders with $5000 incentives waiting for everybody who can make it here!

David Valadao was the last of the 10 traitors who backed shampeachment I still in Congress. I am glad to see that turd finally flushed.

Young Kim is another who was consistently worse than worthless. Buh Bye.

Purifying the Republican Party will help achieve R+50 in the House and R+10 in the Senate in 2028.

A purified Republican Party will attract millions and millions more than previous and lead to decades of Republican control.

Good riddance to FitzRINOpatrick who danced on his dead brother’s grave, took his House seat, and most voters don’t realize what he did and think nothing changed. He’s a fake Republican, one of the furthest to the left in the House without actually admitting that he’s a democRAT.

We will see, I suppose.

RINOS are pieces of crap for sure, but letting the braying jackass psychotics have control is always problematic
