Texas oil industry becoming 'Californicated' could have 'dire consequences' for economy, energy boss warns
Fox News ^ | 11/5/2026 | Agustin Hays

U.S. Oil and Gas Association President Tim Stewart is sounding the alarm over the potential fallout if the Lone Star State were to adopt California-style energy policies.

Stewart stressed that "the absolute worst thing that could happen to the United States economy would be to have California-style energy policy implemented in Texas."

During an appearance on "Big Money in the Morning," Thursday, Stewart explained how Texas adopting energy policies similar to those in California or Colorado could deal an economic blow to the state and the U.S. economy overall.

"When we saw that clean sweep of Democratic elections take place in Colorado, for example, in 2019, we've seen a 40% reduction, a 25 to 40% reduction in production in Colorado," he explained while discussing the effects of regulations.

He explained how oil and gas companies from Colorado and California have moved their operations to Texas because of the availability of resources.

"We don't have any other place to go."

Gas is real cheap when there isn't any.

Oklahoma and Louisiana are still business friendly even if Texas is going to have a hostile New Mexico/Colorado/California style state government.

I sincerely hope that Texas has a hostile business climate that drives out the companies who moved from CA.

Let Texas be a lesson red states. Invite in the enemy and they will destroy you. You have to balance business climate with attesting these sick CA sucks who are the enemy of all of us.

Yep, it’s just unfair and horrible when oil companies have to limit their damage to the environment they use. In times past, oil refineries were even known to dump petroleum products in sewers.

Oil is important and vitally necessary to our economy and wealth. We should encourage and assist energy extraction and production companies, but that doesn’t mean they can commit crimes and disregard the interests and health of their neighbors.

People who aren’t Texas Republicans are not your enemy, nor are they preparing to destroy you. That’s the kind of crazy cult talk that makes some religious nuts fly planes into buildings.

When Texans finally get around to hanging certain -uh-people, please make it public and sell tickets. Texans will not need to be taxed for years.

Californians and Latinos aren’t the problem, the Muslims and Hindus are. They don’t give a crap about this country, they are just here for the easy money, and to conquer.

I don't think for a moment that the enemy is not targeting Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, Wyoming, Idaho, Florida, and any other states that remain strongholds of Americanism. With South Carolina partially falling and the Democrats taking full control of Pennsylvania, the communists will have nearly full control of the entire Eastern Seaboard except for Florida and West Virginia. The Midwest has been weakened as well, with Ohio under partial enemy control and Michigan, Minnesota, and Illinois under full enemy control. The West Coast is communist dominated from the Mexican border to the Canadian border.

Around 20 states, blue cities, raised their fuel taxes last year. Then said it’s Trump’s price hike.

Populace lacks civics skills. I wonder do they know local county, city, state governments exist to tax too?

People who leave California for reason x then immediately vote for the same things that caused them to leave are the enemy.

commit crimes and disregard the interests and health of their neighbors

And what crimes are they currently committing in Texas, absent CO and CA regulation?

The EPA used to be called the PCA - Pollution Control Agency, opened up by Nixon.

I don't know of anyone who is not interested in controlling bona fide pollution, that being what causes bona fide harms to people.

The problem is, along with that name change, the environment became more important than people.

So I throw back to you that the EPA's mission has been what you're saying about oil companies - protect the planet at all costs, people be damned!

If you honestly believe that the vile, evil, POS, libtard Communist-loving filth called the Demonic Party and their demented minions are not the enemy of normal, patriotic Americans, you have not been paying attention for the last 25 years. Hell, you couldn't have been conscious.

Crazy cult? You don't consider people who psychotically and violently defend men dressing up as women, drag shows for toddlers and children, infanticide, and celebrations of assassinations of individuals whose only crime is that they have differing political views, the equivalent of a crazy cult? My suggestion to you is pull your head out and reassess before its too late...

Dems are pretty dumb but I don’t think even in Texas they would go out of their way to destroy the goose that lays a golden egg (at least not right away)
