Federal Judge Strikes Down NH's Proof-of-Citizenship Voter Registration Law

A federal judge in New Hampshire on Thursday ruled the state’s 2024 law requiring first-time voters in the state to provide proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote is unconstitutional.

The ruling by U.S. District Court Judge Samantha Elliott on HB 1569 is being viewed as a strong rebuke of the Republican-backed policy, considered by voting rights advocates to be one of the nation’s most restrictive laws regarding U.S. citizenship and the right to vote.

“New Hampshire’s interest in election integrity cannot justify the burden on New Hampshire voters based on the evidence in this case,” said Elliott in her 98-page ruling, released late Thursday...

I’ll let the appeals courts have at it. It’s destined to be overturned.

An interesting question here is what should the Republican governor and Republican Secretary of State do about this, not to mention any Republican running in the primary for the very important open US Senate seat?

Silly me. I thought the state legislatures made election regulations for their state, not Federal Judges.

Three co-equal branches of government:

The Legislature — they passed the law, which the Supreme Court says is their right under the Constitution.

The Executive Branch — the state governor has responsibility for seeing that the laws are faithfully executed.

The Judicial Branch — there is a crazy lady who disagrees with the other 2 branches.

The crazy lady can be safely ignored.

“2024 law requiring first-time voters in the state to provide proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote”

The state could make registering to vote as a non-citizen a felony. That would make non-citizens deportable.

Can over rulings be expedited to the USSSC due to the urgency of upcoming mid term elections?

This is a liberal judge... They don’t follow the constitution... They ‘interpret’ the constitution in the way they would like it to be written.

That’s not how you change the constitution. The only way you can change or modify the American constitution is through a proposed amendment which must be adopted by two thirds of the congress, and by two thirds of the state governments.

“considered by voting rights advocates to be one of the nation’s most restrictive laws regarding U.S. citizenship and the right to vote.”

I guess the other states allow the whole world to vote in our elections.

Congress should impeach her, and the Senate should convict her, removing her from her position as a Judge.

That’s why America has a Supreme Court... They make the final decisions with regards to the law and thankfully... They have been controlled by conservative justices who follow the established constitution for the past five decades or more.

Meaning these Liberal judges and their useless and lawless interpretations of the constitution are typically ruled as null and void by the Supremes.
