A Mexican national illegal alien accused of randomly setting a New York City apartment building on fire that killed four people and injured seven others, could be released back onto the streets as Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials say the city is refusing a request to turn him over to immigration authorities.
Roman Ceron Amatitla, 38, of Maspeth, is charged with eight counts of second-degree murder and first-degree arson after allegedly lighting a three-story Flushing building on fire March 16, which he had selected at random.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said that on the day of the blaze, Amatitla entered and exited the Avery Avenue building multiple times, urinated in front of the apartments, and then went to a nearby gas station — where he bought a beer, stole a second one and took a pack of matches after refusing to pay for a lighter.
Authorities allege he then entered the apartment building for a fourth and final time, lighting a piece of paper on fire and tossing it onto trash near a stairwell.
As smoke engulfed the street, Katz said he stayed in the immediate area to watch people burn and jump from the windows while sipping his beer, in what she described as an "act of mass murder."
On Tuesday, U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement (ICE) requested the New York City Department of Corrections (NYCDOC) not release Amatitla from jail.
However, because of New York’s sanctuary policies, the NYCDOC told ICE that it will refuse to cooperate.
"This monster set fire to a building and watched as innocent people, including a three-year-old, burned to death. New York City sanctuary politicians REFUSE to cooperate with ICE and are choosing to RELEASE this MURDERER onto New York streets," DHS acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital.

Surround the jail where he is located. Let no one in or out until he is handed over to DHS authorities. This is a worst of the worst, so it is a hill worth making the leftists die on.
I don’t understand why federal authorities don’t go to where he is being held, unlock his cell door, and take him into custody.
Tell state officials he will be returned to them after any federal sentence is completed. If he is deported and later returns to the U.S. legally, then the state can have him.

That is my take as well. the arsonist has been held in NYC jail since March 16 and there was no discussion of a bond in the news article.
Give all of them maps and alcohol to the houses of these politicians.

If they do release him and he commits any more crimes, arrest not only him but the politicians who released him as as accomplices.
I don’t think he is being released. Just because the city won’t turn him over to the feds doesn’t mean they are releasing him.
If NYC turns
Amatitla was remanded into custody without bail by Queens Criminal Court after pleading not guilty to eight counts of second-degree murder and first-degree arson. While the New York City Department of Corrections (NYCDOC) has refused to honor an ICE detainer requested by the Department of Homeland Security, this refusal concerns potential future immigration proceedings, not his current criminal detention.
Law enforcement sources confirm that Amatitla will remain detained until his next court appearance, and he faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted of the March 16 fire that killed four people.
Pehraps he will die in jail.
So, not sure that this ais a big deal, in reeality, if he does get released, and a Democrat is president he will release him, same holds true for a RINO.
