Ahead of direct talks with Israel in Washington, a Lebanese official emphasized that "Iran will not be allowed to intervene and regain control of the situation in the country" • Amid fears of a flare-up: Security forces in Beirut on high alert, security around diplomatic missions increased • Hezbollah Secretary-General: "Cancel the negotiation meeting – this is humiliation"
In the shadow of preparations for the direct talks that will open tomorrow (Tuesday) between Israel and Lebanon in Washington, and in parallel with the escalation on the ground, Hezbollah fears that "we are on our way to hell." Amid concerns about a widespread flare-up and the struggle for Iranian influence, security forces in Beirut are raising their alert level, and eyes are on Washington to see if the political path will contain the fire.
A Lebanese official commented on the failure of negotiations between the US and Iran in Islamabad on Saturday. The source told the Lebanese newspaper Nida' al-Watan that this would not affect direct negotiations with Israel. He said, "The Lebanese presidency and the Lebanese Prime Minister succeeded in separating the Lebanese issue from the Iranian one, and prevented their fate from being intertwined. "Iran will not be allowed to intervene and regain control of the situation in Lebanon."
He noted that tomorrow's meeting will focus "on the need for a ceasefire before the talks begin, a condition that Lebanon has set without receiving an Israeli response so far, subject to what Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter will say to Lebanese Ambassador to Washington Nada Muawad."
The Lebanese official said that the IDF is exerting real pressure to occupy Bint Jbeil and tighten its control over the area south of the Litani, in order to "impose a new reality on the ground and achieve achievements on the ground, so that it can open negotiations with Lebanon with a logic of force and fire." This explains the words of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz yesterday from southern Lebanon."
Against the backdrop of the IDF's rise in rank in Lebanon and after recently sending written messages, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem spoke this evening. He strongly attacked the very existence of the talks and claimed that their purpose was known: disarming the terrorist organization and peace with Israel. "How do you go to negotiations where Israeli Ambassador Yechiel Leiter says this clearly and Netanyahu repeats it?" he wondered.
He claimed that this was a humiliation and surrender of the state. "We call for a historic and courageous stand to be taken and this negotiating meeting to be canceled," he stated. He argued that the Lebanese government should first demand the "implementation of the existing agreement from November" and only then discuss additional issues. "The government is renouncing the resistance and turning it into an enemy while it is supposed to benefit from its capabilities." "Your situation is strange, you are not fighting and you are not letting others fight," the Hezbollah Secretary-General attacked, threatening that his organization "will work to capture Israeli soldiers."
Fear of internal conflict The Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar noted that alongside the military campaign in the south and the political effort, there is also an equally sensitive internal front - which requires tight control of the territory and prevention of a deterioration into internal conflicts. According to the report, Lebanese security forces continue to be on high alert, mainly in Beirut and Mount Lebanon, and are monitoring any possible friction on the street.
The talks that took place over the past two days indicate that Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri was informed of the army's statement that emphasized maintaining order. It is alleged that he expressed opposition to motorcycle parades, while renewing his opposition to sectarian slogans that do not reflect the public he represents.
It was noted that Berry warned "against the outbreak of street clashes, especially in Beirut, whose residents spared no effort in absorbing the displaced - from the perception that the capital is a space that contains all Lebanese." At the same time, the Lebanese President, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, and the Lebanese Prime Minister received security reports that emphasize the need for a series of preventive measures "to prevent friction on the street."
In addition to all of this, in Lebanon, it was reported that security around Western and Arab diplomatic missions was increased "for reasons of caution," after the number of diplomats and employees there was reduced. However, unlike the Second Lebanon War, no foreign nationals, including Lebanese with Western citizenship, were evacuated.
Senior Hezbollah official: "We continue the resistance"
Hezbollah's Deputy Head of the Political Council, Mahmoud Kamati, attacked the decision to hold direct negotiations with Israel in an interview with Al Jazeera last night: "We continue our resistance. "We will not stop the resistance until we secure the release and complete the release - the full release of all occupied lands, the release of prisoners, a full and complete cessation of violations and the return of civilians to their villages, especially on the border that Israel insists on becoming an area empty of residents."
Kamati claimed that "our struggle today is to get things back on track. They're going to negotiating hell, they're going to a rotten swamp. And once they see - you will see that this is the first path where the preconditions will be imposed on them: there will be no ceasefire, and neither so nor so. "Therefore, you will know that they lost a clear loss.
He added that "they will take the country to doom." What is needed is for them to stick to the agreement. In the international resolution and the agreement to cease combat operations. There is a great achievement here. He didn't come for free. "It comes in the blood of martyrs. We sacrificed in the last aggression, and therefore, we have an achievement in our hands - let them stick to this achievement and apply international pressure."

From the River to the Israeli Border, southern Lebanon needs to be a free fire zone for a while.
Lebanon proper needs a civil war with hezbollah to determine who is really in charge. If hezbollah, then Israel will be obligated to overrun the place and return it to non-genocidal Lebanese.
Slaughter Hezbullshitallah. I don’t like it but it must be done.
“ disarming the terrorist organization and peace with Israel..”
He forgot “kill every last one of your savages and your entire families.”

Hell just froze over. I agreed with him on one thing:
“We are going to Hell.”
The Lebanese government cannot take on Hizbullah. Peace negotiations with Israel cannot result in the Lebanese state trying to disarm Hizbullah. Pointless talks....
If we just move them on to our magical soil they will instantly be peace loving tolerant diversity members.
They do have that Planet of the Apes gorilla vibe
Good one!
Got me to spit out my drink.
Thanks for the laugh.
“The Lebanese government cannot take on Hizbullah.”
Perhaps the plan is to reduce Hizbullah to a level where the Lebanese State overmatches what is left.
Importantly, the massive support that Iran has long provided Hizbullah is likely now gone for good - salaries, ammo/weapon resupply, training, technical support and Intelligence. Hizbullah was also recently badly damaged in Syria, and by Israel’s earlier Operations (like the pager bombs). Israel is pounding them hard, and far from randomly - there is obviously a well studied plan being executed. Yesterday, over one hundred Hizbullah targets were struck in a coordinated strike package, over the course of just a few minutes.
Hizbullah is far from what they were, and their old Sunni and Maronite Christian enemies finally have a real chance for their revenge.
Anyone wear a turban or keffiyeh need to be exterminated.
