President Donald Trump revealed in a Fox News interview today that the United States sent weapons to anti-regime Iranian protesters earlier this year — and that the arms were delivered through Kurdish intermediaries.
Trump stated during the interview (aired within the last hour):
“We sent a lot of weapons to the Iranian protesters. We transferred them to the Kurdish militias… and I think the Kurds kept them.”
The comment came during the same wide-ranging Fox News appearance in which Trump issued his latest ultimatum to Tehran: “If Iran doesn’t make a deal quickly, we will bomb them and take their oil,” while confirming temporary immunity for Iranian negotiators.
Full Context of Trump’s Revelation
The weapons transfer was aimed at supporting Iranian protesters seeking to overthrow the Islamic Republic, not the regime itself.
Delivery was routed via Kurdish militias (likely referring to Iraqi Kurdish forces with ties to Iranian Kurdish opposition groups operating near the Iran-Iraq border).
Trump added that he believes the Kurds ultimately kept the weapons rather than passing all of them on to protesters inside Iran.
This marks the first time Trump has publicly confirmed direct U.S. material support for Iran’s domestic opposition movement in the current conflict.
Strategic Significance
The disclosure demonstrates Washington’s willingness to arm anti-regime elements on the ground while conducting airstrikes and special operations (including the historic double rescue of the downed F-15E crew).
Kurdish groups have long been viewed by both U.S. and Israeli officials as potential partners in any effort to destabilize the Tehran regime from within, especially in Iran’s western provinces with significant Kurdish populations.
Earlier reporting (Axios, WSJ, March 2026) noted Trump’s outreach to Kurdish leaders and openness to supporting armed groups inside Iran willing to challenge the regime.
Trump has repeatedly voiced strong support for Iranian protesters, telling them on social media that “the hour of your freedom is at hand” and warning the regime against further crackdowns.

Read my mind.
I would worry that the Kurdish would not supply the Iranian Immortal Guard forces with any weapons, but would keep them for themselves.
“We transferred them to the Kurdish militias… and I think the Kurds kept them.”
Oops.
I can’t think of a reason to trust anyone there, unless you’re Muslim.
And even then these people screw each other over all the time.
I like that Trump has trust for people... It’s a good sign for a leader. But these Muslims are mostly animals.
Smart to hold the weapons until serious organized Iranian resistance emerges.
Then Trump will tell the kids to provide the weapons.
Did that mean the Kurds stole them?
Dunno. I can read that both ways.
Trump, for all the great things he is, absolutely slaughters the English languge every time he speaks.
I’ve grown to love it and be annoyed at the same time.
There should also be an emphasis on taking out IRGC and taking their weapons and ammo. I can see this becoming a sniper fight.
So not actually to the protesters. I see.
Maybe not all were taken by Kurds who hate the IRGC. The Persians are probably keeping them until it’s amenable to use them. We don’t know all that’s going on as evidenced by the rescue of the second airman. Maybe they have been told that they will be signaled when the time is right to start using them.
I’m not sure why anyone would think the Kurds would give these weapons to anyone else.
If I was in a war torn country and somebody gave me and my people weapons, we would FOR SURE hang on to them to defend ourselves. Who wouldn’t?
Who approved this? Our President is surrounded by idiots.
The Kurds hate the IRGC. If they kept the weapons they will use the weapons to fight the IRGC. But they will want to break off a part of Iran to form their own country.
I hope we’re using other ways to distribute arms for the people, because the time for the ground war where Iranians take back their government is approaching rapidly.
lol. Ain’t that the truth.
Mahyar Tousi says, “Don’t take Trump literally. Take him seriously.”
No mistake made.
Trying to get arms to Iranian citizens so that they can defend themselves against the radical Islamic mullahs is not a mistake.
.
The much loved Casey Stengel-Yogi Berra style MLB manager Sparky Anderson (Cardinals 1975 & 1976 and Tigers 1984 World Champions) was accused of slaughtering the English language and replied: "I really don't have anything against it or nothing like that."
Dunno. Arming the Kurds seems OK to me.
It’s also not clear they kept the weapons or if they are being distributed. I know it’s a shocker but Trump was less than clear when he spoke.
