Trump’s former national security advisor has slammed European leaders’ inaction on the war in Iran as a “mistake” that invites the US president to halt support for Ukraine against Russia’s full-scale invasion.
Europe’s stance on the Iran war risks US President Donald Trump walking away from the conflict in Ukraine, his former national security advisor, John Bolton, has said, criticising the EU’s reaction to the situation in the Middle East.
In an interview with Euronews, Bolton, who also previously served as the US’s ambassador to the UN, branded the Iran conflict as “Europe’s war.”
“Europe is just as much, if not more, at risk from nuclear attacks if Iran gets nuclear weapons,” said Bolton. “It has the missile capability to hit Central and Eastern Europe – not the United States.”
He warned that EU leaders could be handing an “invitation” to Trump to decide that “Ukraine is not America’s war,” branding the lack of political will across the bloc to partake in the war on Iran as a “mistake.”
His comments came as the US-Israeli war in Iran, which has spilt over into other Middle Eastern countries, approaches its fourth week. European leaders have been reluctant to join in the war effort, amid repeated criticism from Trump, who said he was “shocked” by their lack of action and has warned that NATO allies are making a “foolish mistake” by not doing more.

Funny how until just a minute ago, the likes of Bolton, Graham, Nat Review, Levin etc. were universally despised neocons on FR - now they’re ideological besties.
Sniveling clowns.
It is not our war. But because the Oil market is global it affects us a lot.
We would be better off disconnecting from that market and relying on our own, which is more than adequate to supply our needs.
Invite all our Eco-nuts to go live with their European
soulmates living solely on “renewable” energies.
Lindsey Graham … John Bolton … Mark Levin … Hillary Clinton … Mike Pence … now David Boies. The list will go on and on. LOL.
Exactly. I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve “borrowed” one of your epic descriptions for my new tagline. LOL.
Conversely Bolton was hailed as the anti Orange Man advisor by the dimocraps until 2 weeks ago, now they dont know what side to pick.
So do actually what ? Cut the aid from zero to zero ?
Oil is a fungible commodity with international markets and pricing.
“Disconnecting from that market” is an impossibility. That’s like saying we should disconnect from gravity, disconnect from the sun rising in the east.
There it is….
“He warned that EU leaders could be handing an “invitation” to Trump to decide that “Ukraine is not America’s war,” branding the lack of political will across the bloc to partake in the war on Iran as a “mistake.”
He wants all war…. Ukraine has been relegated to second fiddle.
Oil is severely manipulated. There is plenty of oil. The issue is always supply/demand. A concerted effort certainly could mitigate most pain during situations like this but folks are greedy and love wielding influence when it suits them.

These guys have been hawks for decades on the Middle East.
Their views have just aligned with the president’s policy.
As they say a broken clock is right twice a day.
It will be a stupid war if the US is still fighting it a year from now.
It will be a stupid war if the US is still fighting going into the November elections—if for no other reason than that the republicans will be punished.
However, if the war ends in about 4 weeks. Then you have a very different story.
If the war is not over in 2-3 weeks then everyone knows the next step. Kharg island is taken. 90 percent of Iran’s oil flows through there. If that island is taken. then Iran cannot pay its military or government officials.
We are in a gamble. No one knows the outcome.
Were it anyone else leading the fight, I would agree with you. But with Trump and the technology he has at his disposal—my bets are with Trump and the USA.
i like some of those people, some of their ideology i can accept.
my ‘final solution’ is always total destruction of ccp by any means.
Seriously. Who amongst us had on his 2026 bingo card John Bolton becoming beloved around here again??
Go ahead and leave a-hole. We will NOT miss you.
Especially now that the Qatari helium plant was hit - 33% of the global supply gone over night
Here’s who’s bleeding right now:
🇬🇧 United Kingdom: NHS hospitals with MRI machines facing supply tightness. No domestic helium production.
🇫🇷 France: Air Liquide headquartered here, but cannot produce new helium. Distribution-only country.
🇩🇪 Germany: hosts major industrial gas distributors (Linde HQ). Helium spot prices up 100% - Linde, Air Liquide rationing supply.
🇺🇸 United States: federal helium reserve running down for years. US chip fabs still exposed. HP, Dell, Lenovo warned enterprise buyers: 15-20% price hike incoming.
🇹🇼 Taiwan: home to TSMC, makes 18% of global chips. Said “monitoring situation.” Translation: quietly panicking.
🇰🇷 South Korea: 64.7% of all helium imported from Qatar ($226.9M). Samsung and SK Hynix fabs on a countdown clock.
🇯🇵 Japan: major chip fab and MRI manufacturer hub. First to run out if Qatar outage extends beyond 60 days.
🇸🇬 Singapore: regional semiconductor hub. Heavy Qatar helium dependency flagged by Scientific American.
🇮🇳 India: imported helium from Qatar for thousands of hospital MRI machines. MRI costs already rising, scan delays starting.
🇨🇳 China: imports helium for chip fabs and MRI. Could accelerate its own helium exploration in Siberian region (strategic play).
🇦🇺 Australia: Exporter, one of few alternatives. Helium production from Amadeus Basin, but NOT enough to fill Qatar’s gap.
🇶🇦 Qatar: the source of 33% of the world’s supply. Offline since March 2. CEO says 14% of capacity PERMANENTLY damaged for up to 5 years.
12 countries exposed.
Europe and the rest of the world will never step up as long as we step in. Always. That’s the problem with Foreign Welfare.
Oh, it's way more than that. Israel and the United States have been singled out thousands of times for death and destruction by the Ayatollahs.
They were very close to making nuclear weapons, they already have the means to deliver them against Israel (obviously), and they were working on long-range missiles to deliver them against the U.S.
