Explosion and resulting fire, possibly the result of a crash involving a cargo plane with UPS Airlines, near Muhammad Ali International Airport in Louisville, Kentucky
Thinking the same.
After takeoff? No wonder there was a huge fire: fully loaded with fuel.
Grade lane at Fern Valley is where the Ford Louisville Assembly Plant is located. Let’s hope that wasn’t what is burning.
MD11 plane per local tv. Unconfirmed it may have hit fuel storage tanks near the airport.
I rode a 747 Honolulu to Chicago, it can be done.
Huge area on fire on WLKY.
With a big FWIW...

Video seems to show cargo plane on fire before crash.

Per scanner chatter...
Fire moving through a junkyard towards tanks...
No way. LAX or SFO for refueling and drop-n-load.
There’s a video supposedly showing it on fire at takeoff??
I think it might have taken off from the West runway. That area looks like it has the buildings and junkyard being discussed on scanner.
See post 28 above.
Definitely doable. I did a red-eye non-stop from Honolulu to Atlanta on a Delta L-1011. That was some 32 or 33 years back. The L-1011 was a predecessor of the MD11.
Yes that’s it, thanks!
MD-11 has a 7800 mile range when full of fuel.
This is a breathtakingly stupid post. People died and you go for yuks and giggles.
There’s an MD 11 to Chicago that shows N/A on status etc?
