Time To Curb the Violence
RealClear Wire ^ | October 30, 2025 | Mark Penn , Andrew Stein

Even back to the days of Charles Manson, a violent cult leader, there were pockets of people who cheered and reveled in violence. But all too common today are the groupies who adulate the CEO killer, the social media maven who praises the assassination of Charlie Kirk, or the miscreant who says they wish presidential assassins had been successful.

In today’s social-media fueled world, every heinous act of violence spawns a great majority of people of condemn it and a smaller counter-reaction of people who cheer it and call for more. Maybe this was always the case, but those who supported such violence could not as easily band together as they can today. Social media allows the violence lovers to find like-minded individuals, legitimizing their response, further encouraging future violence.

Kirk held no elected office. His only weapons were words and open debate. Despite this, nearly one in five Americans shockingly declared in surveys that his assassination was justified, according to a Harvard CAPS Harris poll. The path to such thoughts is clear. The opposition on the left characterized Kirk’s positions as “hate” despite his willingness to debate anyone anywhere. Once his speech was then characterized as violence – the resultant deadly violence became justified.

Almost 3 in 4 voters (72%) decry today’s polarizing political rhetoric as a cause of contemporary violence, and over 4 in 5 state it is unacceptable for their own political party to use violence to achieve its aims.

Notably, though, 74% of GOP voters see Democrats’ rhetoric as too extreme, compared to just the 27% who call their own party extreme. The effect is mirrored on the other side of the aisle, with 84% of Democrats calling the GOP too extreme, but a mere 33% saying the same of their own...

Even if the left renounced violence today (which they won’t) the violence would not stop. They’ve engendered an entire subculture where violence is accepted or even encouraged. They’ve encouraged the weak minded to believe they’re victims and the only political recourse they have is violent overthrow. That’s not going away soon.

I was in college when the Reagan assassination attempt occurred (1981)

The college paper allowed a writer to opine “my first reaction was: ‘I hope he is successful’”

No USSS visit. Deep State approved.

A radio update said this week that Luigi Mangione still gets an average of 100-200 letters each day, week after week in prison.

The legal defense fund raised over $1 million from more than 28,000 donors as of May 2025. (Outdated).
Recent summary: “A recent poll of college students found that half viewed him favorably and nearly half believed his actions were justified, while 81% had a negative view of the victim, Brian Thompson. Conversely, many people, especially older generations, have a negative view of Mangione, condemn his actions, and fear for the safety of corporate executives”.

I really have to get hold of myself. When I see Pritzker or Newsom for a brief moment on TV I go into rage mode.

Deep down I know “those people on the TV screen can’t hear you” but it’s too late.

I remember watching an interview with Mr Manson. Nightline or one of those shows circa 1990. Anyway the reporter is messing with Manson since he’s locked up and can’t do anything. So Manson says to the reporter,” I have a friend that getting out next week, and he said, “Charlie, Those news guys are doing you wrong, what do you want me to do?””. Manson turns to the interviewer and says to him,” What do you want me to tell him?

“....the miscreant who says they wish presidential assassins had been successful.”

~~~~~
I stopped reading there, as I have decided not to subject myself to writers who have signed on tho the pronoun abuse promulgated by the left in order to push the blurring of the two sexes.
The pronoun “their” is plural and should not be used with a singular antecedent
Recently, I even saw “themself.” What?
The only way to stop the violence is to be even more violent against those who instigate/commit the violence....
Change my mind....
Simply enforcing the law at a very local level would be a good start. Gotta get rid of all the Soros DA’s first tho
