And of all the people in the White House, I was in the worst position to make the case that he should drop out. I knew it would come off to him as incredibly self-serving if I advised him not to run. He would see it as naked ambition, perhaps as poisonous disloyalty, even if my only message was: Don’t let the other guy win.
“It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.” We all said that, like a mantra, as if we’d all been hypnotized. Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness. The stakes were simply too high. This wasn’t a choice that should have been left to an individual’s ego, an individual’s ambition. It should have been more than a personal decision.
Of course, the faulty logic there is that Harris was somehow destined to win, or even more capable of winning, had Biden stepped aside early and given her the full campaign cycle. For one, she would have actually had to go through a contentious primary, and remember that in mid-2023, Harris was largely perceived as a big problem within the administration, not an asset. It wasn't until mid-2024 that her reputation was rehabbed because Democrats and the mainstream press had no choice.

"And of all the people in the White House, I was in the worst position to make the case that he should drop out. I knew it would come off to him as incredibly self-serving if I advised him not to run."
As if she is even that aware. Dodged a bullet yet again.
The ignorant s**t should be glad that there are ghost writers around who can make her incoherent semi-thoughts appear readable.
I know it’s supposed to be a Memoir, but it’s still odd to read Kamala speaking in First Person, knowing she most likely did not write the text of her book.
A book that’ll be read by none
Self serving?
Load of camala crap
How about giving a thought of what is best for the country? Which in her case could have also benefited her at the time
Kommie slept her way almost to the top...and now she's Mike Dukakis 2.0.
Yeah, I was wondering who wrote that book for her.
Kammie was her own worst enemy, not Biden. Drunk, spiteful, impossible to work for, and an entire term spent dodging every responsibility that came her way. Remember “They’re not going to pin this sh*t on me!” during her very brief tenure as border boss? The reason she didn’t advise Biden to drop out was that nobody who managed the coup cared to tell her it was going to happen. And why would they?
Said the woman who got naked with a married man in order to advance her political career.
The problem wasn’t that Biden dropped out too late, it was that Harris became the nominee at all. If he’d dropped out earlier and the dems had had a primary to select someone other than Harris then they might have stood a chance. If he’d dropped out earlier and Harris had more time to campaign then it would have been an even worse defeat for her. Every time she opened her mouth she convinced more voters that there’s no way she was fit to be president.
I will just wait until her book goes on sale in the 99 cent rack. I will buy it just in case I need toilet paper.
99 cent rack? (Or the 99 percent off rack?)
The Biden thugs warned her... she had to to get a book deal though .
Another strategic error? If she is planning to run, she just gave Jill a reason to strike back.
She should have made it a coloring book. Then you could color Kamala based on whatever ethnicity she goes by at the time.
Who wrote this “Skank a Heartbeat Away” tome? 🤡
I felt like Democrats were finished when they didn’t let Dem primary voters pick a candidate. I still haven’t figured out why they thought that would work. Primary voters are more likely to be active campaign workers/volunteers, etc. Not a good look.
Kamala attacking a man who can’t defend himself anymore.
Joe and Jill were once Kamala’s rescuers. They rescued her from permanent obscurity and invisibility. Such an ingrate!
“And of all the people in the White House, I was in the worst position to make the case that he should drop out. “
Drop out? It should have never got to that point. Biden should not have run again and there should have been real democrat primaries. Kamala would have had to compete against the governors.
We could back up even further by why bother? The whole sorry thing illustrated democrat corruption for all to see.
